Abstract

 In the current research, effectiveness of STRESS INOCULATION TRAINING method and ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY method on reducing MATHEMATICS ANXIETY among second grade high school students of Isfahan city was investigated. The sample were 150 pupils randomly selected and assigned to experimental and control groups. Six groups were formed (each group consist of 25 students), namely two groups (boys and girls) for STRESS INOCULATION TRAINING, two groups (boys and girls) for ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY; and two groups (boys and girls) of control. Two methods were used as intervention (stress inoculation training and ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY). Math. Anxiety scale and clinical interview were used as research instruments. Analysis of variance with repeated measure results indicated that there is significant discrepancy between groups. Post- hoc test of Schefe was used, which indicated that both group of intervention decrement the anxiety relative to control group. Also, the obtained results indicate that STRESS INOCULATION TRAINING was more effective than ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY.
