Abstract

The goal of this research was to compare the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions of Satir and Whitaker approaches in reduction of DIVORCE probability in Couples at the brink of DIVORCE. A number of 24 couples were selected by purposeful sampling from among conflictual couples referred to the Council for Solution of Discrepancies in Karaj. The subjects were assigned into control and experimental groups. Marital Instability Index (MII) was used as pretest. Satir and Whitaker approaches of couple therapy were used as therapeutic interventions on the experimental groups for 8 sessions. No treatment was used for the control group. Pretest and posttest scores of all subjects in MII were analyzed using Covariance methods. The results indicated that therapeutic interventions of Satir and Whitaker approaches reduce DIVORCE probability. Also, the results showed that effectiveness of Satir's therapeutic interventions were more effective than Whitaker's.
