Abstract

This research investigated the relationship between FAMILY-OF-ORIGIN scale (FOS) factors and HOSTILE MARITAL CONFLICT among married couples.95 couples (married from 1 to 7 years) were selected and surveyed using the following questionaires: (1) RPEP-M (PRE Paration for MARRIAGE) and HOSTILE MARITAL CONFLICT (Gottman & Levinson).FOS factors included in this study were quality of parental discipline, quality of father-child relationship, quality of mother-child relationship, general climate of family, and parental/marital satisfaction. Results indicated that fos factors were somewhat relevant to HOSTILE MARITAL CONFLICT. For husbands, all of FOS their factors of their own FOS and wives mother-child relationship qulity were negatively correlated with perceived hostile conflict. For wives, all of FOS factors of their husbands except one (general family climate) and three of their own FOS factors, including mother-child relationship quality, quality of foS general climate and parental/marital satisfaction were negatively correlated with perceived hostility. The research also revealed that husband's FOS variables are more influential in occurring HOSTILE MARITAL CONFLICT than wives' FOS. Finally, further implications of finding are discussed.
