Abstract

 Introduction: The study and measurement of electron density and other parameters of PLASMA by FAR INFRA RED sources has been the subject of attention for many researches during years. Lasers are the best source in such researches. FORMIC ACID LASERS with wave length of 349,434,511 micron pumped by a co2 lasers are the most famous one for these kinds of application.Aim: The Theoretical Studies of FORMIC ACID LASERS with Two Resonator Structures.Materials and Method: the gain and out put power of formic acid FIR lasers in two structures has been formulated by solving the RATE EQUATION in special condition. The effects of some parameters such as pressure and input co2 laser power have been discussed. The comparison and optimization of two structure being made by using the obtained equations and by changing the x and y of sandwich waveguide cavity by r and q ordinary cavity.Result: Different diagrams showing the variation of gain and out power of laser in two structures has been obtained. The diagrams showed the maximum EFFICIENCY for each case. The diagram of gain versus input power shows the gain reaches a maximum for a specified power and then saturate by increasing the power. Also the diagram of gain versus lengh shows that gain builds up exponentially to a maximum point and then drops.Conclusion: The Fir lasers have a low EFFICIENCY due to the physical and no uniform distribution of field in the cavity and the two structures does not make such a big improvement in this regards.
