Abstract

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Splenic cysts are rare and usually are found incidentally. They are based on the presence or absence of epithelial lining, classified as true or false. True cysts are subdivided into parasitic and nonparasitic. The aim of this report was to introduce a case of splenic MESOTHELIAL CYST that is rare.CASE: A case was discovered of splenic MESOTHELIAL CYST in a 19 year old female that was caused progressive bulging abdomen for a year ago to come this educational-treatment center. There was no history of trauma. Physical examination revealed a visible bulging mass in the left of abdomen that was asymptomatic. The lesion was shown a mass with dimension 17 x 11 x 18 cm and visceral abdominal shifted toward anterior by abdominal sonography and computered tomography scan. The mass was operated. After 3 months of follow up, the lesion was not observed.CONCLUSION: Splenic cysts should be considered in differential diagnosis of abdominal masses.
