Abstract

This study was carried out on ARTIFICIAL REEFs of BAHRAKAN coastal water (Khozestan, Northwest Persian Gulf) seasonally from May 2009 to February 2010. The samples were collected by SCUBA divers at depth of 12 m using random quadrate (0.25×0.25 m) technique. Four sampling station were selected one at the old reefs (D) and three were located at the new reefs (A, B and C).The samples were fixed in 90% ethanol and transformed to lab. Then, the samples were weighed biomass of SPONGEs in different season calculated and indeces of diversity and richness was estimated for each species. In general, the highest diversity was recorded at station D in winter. Result of PCA analysis also has indicated variation in diversity at different stations and these result were confirmed by Bray-curtis index.
