Title

MICROPROPOPAGATION OF KIWIFRUIT (ACTINIDIA DELICIOSA CV. HAYWARD) USING AXILLARY BUD EXPLANTS

Pages

Abstract

In this research, in order to study of MICROPROPAGATION of KIWIFRUIT (Actinidia deliciosa cv. Hayward), AXILLARY BUDs were used as explants. Desinfected explants were established on MS medium supplemented with 2 mg l-1 BA for two weeks. Then, shoot proliferation were evaluated on twenty culture media containing MS basal medium supplemented with 4 concentrations of BA (0, 1, 2, 3 mg l-1), alone or in combination with GA3 (0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1 mg l-1). The highest number of shoots with average of 5 and leaves with average of 10.66 was obtained with MS medium containing 2 mg l-1 BA and 0.5 mg l-1 GA3. The maximum shoot height with average of 4.5 cm was produced on medium containing 1 mg l-1 BA and 1 mg l-1 GA3. Shoot rooting were studied on MS and half-strength MS basal medium in combination with different concentrations of IBA (0, 0.5, 1, 2 mg l-1). Half-strength MS medium supplemnted with 1 mg l-1 IBA produced greater number of roots and maximum root length. In this medium 5 roots with average root length of 2.7 cm was produced. Therefore, application of GA3 and IBA during proliferation and rooting stages were effective for MICROPROPAGATION of KIWIFRUIT, respectively. About 80% of plantlets produced were successfully acclimatized.
