Abstract

 The main objective of this study is to mitigate the weaknesses of stone matrix asphalt mixtures by improving their mechanical properties and improving the main advantage of stone matrix asphalt which is high resistance against rutting. In order to accomplish this tasks, Nano-Zeolite and Zeolite Granule were used as warm mix modifiers because of their ability to decrease the temperture of mixtures and also to lower the viscosity and the effects of these materials were evaluated by Indirect Tensile Strength, Tensile Strength Ratio, and Wheel-Track tests. The tests results showed that stone matrix asphalt mixtures were compatible with nano-zeolite and zeolite granule. These mixtures modified by Nano Zeolite had been shown greater strength in rutting compared to specimens modified by granule. Moreover, granule cuased decrease in indirect tensile strenght in both wet and dry conditions, while the specimens made by Nano Zeolite showed better performe. Thus they had no significant effect on moisture susceptibility.
