Abstract

This study aims to identify and prioritise the effective factors to attract liners shipping to Shahid Rajaie Port, which has been carried out in two stages. In the first stage, a comprehensive literature has been conducted to identify important factors on the port selection from of maritime transport and shipping company’ s point of views. A questionnaire was distributed among a large sample and then fully effective factor were identified. In the second stage, AHP model was utilised to prioritise the identified factors. The results indicate that ship’ s time in port, suitable draft, large auxiliary services and quality, safety and environmental issues, proximity of the port to the main maritime routes, port efficiency as transshipment center and loading and unloading costs, port charges and dues, international policy, berth length were ranked respectively as ten effective factors in attracting liner Shipping to Shahid Rajaie Port.
