Abstract

In recent years, one of the major objectives of Iran has been the promotion of non-petroleum exports. On the other hand, due to population growth and urgent need for food-based protein, and more specifically white meat, the necessity if felt for the planning and use of marine sources. There are much potential for the culture and use of marine life forms, such as SHRIMP, and due to high capacity for export, it is important to regard this sector as a source of hard currency earning for the country. The present study addresses problems related to SHRIMPs' export supply and demand, through the use of data from 1975- 2000 using simultaneous approach, estimates supply and demand for SHRIMP export using SURE and I3SLS and makes some recommendations for export development of this product.
