Abstract

The main purpose of this report is to analyze sociologically factors that may affect STUDENTs success in entering HIGHER EDUCATION. The main hypothesis regards cultural capital as a factor that. Increases the probability of success and the score gained in the university entrance exam, although factors such as socio-economic capital and academic history are also present. A sample of 1667 pre-college STUDENTs at both public and private schools was chosen from among all such STUDENTs in the province of khorasan. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire. Multiple and logistic regression analyses of the data revealed that along the side of the socio-economic capita, cultural capita has a significant share in the probability of success and the gained score.
