QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF EMERGENCY SERVICES AT BAHONAR HOSPUALOFJRERMAN,1991

Abstract

 To assess the EMERGENCY services QUALITY at Kerman Bahonar hospital, a questionnaire was given to 660 referees on a descriptive, cross -sectional study in Jan. 1991. The results showed that about %87 of the patients had referred due to car accidents while the rest had come due to sudden pain feelings in their bodies. The average time from the accident moment to the patient's entering into the doctor's office was about 60 minutes, from the entrance to examination start point 4 minutes ,the time taken to receive the tests , results 40 minutes ,the time wasted to do the first consultation 60 minutes, the patients' wait time from the start point to receive the tests' final results 72 minutes, and preparation times wasted before undergoing operations at EMERGENCY and general operation wards were 10 and 20 minutes respectively. Comparing the mentioned services with the international standards, they proved to be of a lower QUALITY. To promote the QUALITY of such services, it is recommended to apply more competent managers along with present or at least on call orthopedists at the ward, since about 33% of the clients had fractures or needed an orthopedic consultation.
