Abstract

Comparison of literary genres, forms of poetry and imagery in world literature is said to be one of the approaches to comparative literature. Comparison of two poets, KA'B ibn-e Zuhair, who composed poems before Islam and during the Islamic era, and the bilingual poet, late Professor Seyyed Amir Mahmud Anvar, from two different centuries and different environments and cultures on an identical theme, PRAISE of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), reflects the cultural, social and literary differences between Islamic and non-Islamic nations. This paper attempts to explore a kind of link between literature and seeking assistance from the common thought heritage of the two nations and discusses how Professor Anvar was influenced by the Islamic culture and gnosis in pursuing his spiritual journey.
