Abstract

 IN THIS PAPER, THE CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF TWO TYPES ACETYLENIC ALCOHOL NAMED AS 2-PROPYN – 1 – OL AND 1 – OCTYN – 3 – OL HAVE COMPARED. CORROSION RATE AND PROTECTION AMOUNT OF THESE INHIBITORS WERE DETERMINED BY WEIGHT LOSS METHOD IN 1M HYDROCHLORIC ACID SOLUTION WITH DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF INHIBITORS. THE SURFACE ADSORPTION CURVES WERE DRAWN AND DETERMINED ADSORPTION MECHANISM, ADSORPTION CONSTANT AND FREE GIBBS ENERGY FOR MENTIONED INHIBITORS. FREE GIBBS ENERGY ABOUT 1 – OCTYN – 3 – OL MORE NEGATIVE THAN OTHER MOLECULE, AND THEREFORE, HIGHER HYDROCARBON CHAIN CAN PRODUCE HIGHER STABILITY OF POLYMERIC SURFACE FILM FORMATION [1-2], BUT HIGHER CONCENTRATIONS OF THIS INHIBITOR CANNOT BE USED BEYOND A SPECIFIC AMOUNT BECAUSE OF SOLUBILITY LIMITATION.ALSO, BEHAVIOR OF TWO MOLECULES WERE INVESTIGATED USING ELECTROCHEMICAL IMPEDANCE METHOD. POLARIZATION RESISTANCE OF 1 – OCTYN – 3 – OL WAS HIGHER THAN OTHER MOLECULE AND INDICATED STRONG FILM FORMING INHIBITOR.
