A NEW CORROLATION BETWEEN RELATIVE PERMEABILITY AND REYNOLDS NUMBER

Abstract

 THE MAIN FLOWING CORROLATION WHICH IS USED IN PETROLEUM INDUSTRY IS DARCY EQUATION. DARCY EQUATION IS MODIFIED TO TWO PHASE FLOW BY USING THE CONCEPT OF RELATIVE PERMEABILITY. FURTHERMOR, THE PRESSURE DROP THAT OCCURS WITH TWO PHASE FLOWING SIMULTANEOUSLY CAN BE SHOWN AS THE SUM OF THE LOSSES DUE TO TEMPORAL ACCELERATION, SPATIAL ACCELERATION, HYDROSTATIC FORCES AND FRICTION. IN THIS WORK, A NEW MODEL FOR TWO PHASE FRICTIONAL PRESSURE DROP IS PRESENTED. THE MODEL IS DESCRIBING TWO PHASE FLOW PRESSURE DROP AS FUNCTIONS OF FRICTION FACTORS OF THE GAS AND LIQUID PHASE REYNOLDS NUMBER DURING TWO-PHASE FLOW. BY USING A SET OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA, FRICTION FACTORS ARE REGRESSED DEPENDS ON REYNOLDS NUMBER. BESIDES BY EQUATING THIS EQUATION WITH DARCY EQUATION RELATIVE PERMEABILITIES ARE CALCULATED REGARDS TO FRICTION PRESSURE DROP. FOR VERIFICATION PURPOSES THIS NEW CORROLATION IS VALIDATED AND REGRESSED BY MORE THAN 230 EXPERIMENTAL DATA POINTS. AS A RESULT TWO PHASE RELATIVE PERMEABILITIES ARE CALCULATED AS FUNCTIONS OF REYNOLDS NUMBER.
