Title

STUDY ON SUSCEPTIBLE AND RESISTANCE OF COMMERCIAL AND ADVANCED COTTON CULTIVARS TO VERTICILLIUM WILT

Pages

  76-83

Abstract

During 1995 to 1997 in Hashem-abad and Karkandeh COTTON research stations, randomized complete block design with 4 replications was conducted to evaluate some quality and quantity properties and also the trend of RESISTANCE to VERTICILLIUM WILT of 7 commercial and advanced CULTIVARS of COTTON. In field, CULTIVARS response to defoliate and non-defoliate isolates inoculation were evaluated. In field condition, intact 8 leave stages COTTON plants were inoculated by defoliate and no defoliate isolates and severity and incidence of disease infection were determined. The trend of VERTICILLIUM WILT RESISTANCE, yield, ripening early, mean weight of each boll, and mean number of boll per plant were compared using Duncan's multiple range test based on the combined analysis of variance of 3 years experiment, the most tolerance CULTIVARS with the best yield and early ripening characteristic was distinct. The results showed that Backtegan, B557 and Tashkand 1 CULTIVARS have the most RESISTANCE to Veritcillium wilt, race of ss4 and B557 and Tashkand 1 CULTIVARS' have the most tolerance to VERTICILLIUM WILT race of T1, and Varamin cultivar's has the most sensitive to VERTICILLIUM WILT race of ss4 and n. In respect of early ripening and yield, the B-557 cultivar's was significantly differed to others. Backtegan and B-557 have the highest boll weight and number, respectively.
