Abstract

 A NEW COMPLEX OF FORMULA [NI (HPHPYF) CL2] (HPHPYF=PHENYLPYRIDYLFORMAMIDINE) HAS BEEN SYNTHESIZED AND THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE DETERMINED BY X-RAY DIFFRACTION METHODS. THE COMPLEX CRYSTALLIZES IN THE MONOCLINIC SPACE GROUP P21/C WITH A=13.304 (2) A, B=12.789 (2) A, C=7.767 (13) A, A=90 (5) °, B=94.101 (3) O, V=1378.6 (4) A3, AND Z=4. THE STRUCTURE OF THIS COMPLEX IS MONONUCLEAR WITH THE NICKEL (II) ION TETRAHEDRALLY COORDINATED AND BOUND TO THE HPHPYF THROUGH THE NITROGEN ATOMS. THE NI-N BOND LENGTHS ARE IN THE RANGE OF 1.96-1.98 (4) A.
