Abstract

The present study aims at predicting psychosocial security based on Social desirability, social adaptation and social adequacy among high school students in Tabriz. In this study, descriptive research method of correlation type was used. The target population was high school students in Tabriz with an estimated number of 42031 students. Using multistage cluster sampling and Krejcie and Morgan table, 381 students were selected. Four questionnaires [Maslow's psychosocial security (1992), Matson's social adaptation Questionnaire (1983), Flannery's social adequacy Scale (1990) and Crown and Marlowe's Social desirability Test] were used to collect the required data. The reliability of the 4 above-mentioned questionnaires was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient and they were 0. 91, 0. 86, 0. 89, and 088, respectively. Then, to test the hypotheses, descriptive and inferential statistics indices such as the mean, percentage, Kalmogrov-Smirnov test, Pearson test and multivariable regression test were used. The results of Pearson test showed that there is a significant relationship between Social desirability, social adaption and social adequacy; and psychosocial security. Then in the following stage it came out that in simultaneous presence of all three variables of Social desirability, social adaption and social adequacy, the relevant variables anticipate students’ psychosocial security to be in a positive and significant status
