Abstract

European Union has currently encountered with some new security challenges from Middle East that neither existed before nor was so severe as it is now. This matter made the European Union as well as NATO to take these threats seriously and to provide some efforts to confront with it. Deathful blasts in Madrid on 11, sep, 2004, and in London on 7, jan, 2005, that both of them were done by Al Qaeda, are examples of this new challenge. But the most important serious threat that Europe is facing with, is the immigration of the Middle Eastern Muslims to Europe, and this subject is not only considered as a security problem for Europe, but also has put the European identity under question.In this article, the new security challenges which have made Europe worried, are being examined on the basis of the document relating to the strategy of security for European Union in 2003. Then, the security policies of European Union for confronting with such threats are being examined due to Bary Buzan divisions in the security fields of Mediterranea, Syriaand Persian Gulf.
