Abstract

Purpose: This paper discusses the effects of WORLD WAR II on the FOOD CRISIS in AZERBAIJAN. The role of the AZERBAIJAN Democratic Party (ADP) in intensifying the “Bread & Grain Shortages” is addressed.Method/Research Design: Library and archival materials are used to collect data.Findings: Consigning the wheat of AZERBAIJAN to other areas by the Allied Forces during the occupation was one reason for the shortage of bread in the region. In addition, because of the involvement of ADP in military activities, many landlords either were killed or abandoned their lands and never returned to AZERBAIJAN. Following the FAMINE, the majority of rural farmers joined the ADP and left their villages.
