Abstract:

Methods for calculating Available Transfer Capability (ATC) of the transmission systems may be grouped under Static and Dynamic methods. This paper presents a fast dynamic method for ATC calculations, which considers both Transient Stability Limits and Voltage Stability Limits as terminating criteria. A variation of Energy Function Method is used to determine the transient stability limit and the determinant of the Jacobian matrix of the system is used as an index to determine the voltage stability limit. A novel method is used to approximately calculate this determinant. Combining these two methods, an algorithm that calculates ATC, based on both voltage and angle dynamic stability is presented The advantage of this algorithm, besides considering both voltage and angle dynamic stability, is its high speed This-speed of calculation makes the algorithm a perfect candidate to be used in screening contingencies and determining those cases that need to be further analyzed. To demonstrate the validity, efficiency, and the speed of the new method, it is used to calculate ATC for numerical examples with 1, 3, 7 (CIGREE), 10,30 (IEEE) and US (Iowa State) buses.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity routine methods of heparin administration and neutralizing its effects by protamine in patients who underwent the open heart surgery using Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB) technique, in the comparison of administered amount of this agent through the classical methods, by controlling the ACT (Activated clotting time). In the classical way, the maintenance of heparin and protamine doses are determined and injected according to the ACT-heparin curve. The subjects of this study were 100 patients who underwent surgery of coronary vessel graft (68%), valve replacement (28%) and repairing congenital defects (4%) and the CPB was conducted on them. After conventionally taking the ACT as control, 3mg/kg heparin was injected and per hour 50mg maintained doses were administered. The Act specimens were collected after the injection of heparin and also at the end of CPB before protamine injection. The fourth sample of Act was collected after neutralizing the heparin effects by 4.5 mg/kg of protamine. The results of 4 ACT samples were analyzed with expected and standard values (Control Act = 120 sec and Act during pumping>400 sec) by One Sample t-test. There was no significant difference between the average control Act of the patients before heparin injection (128.8 sec) and the normal value of 120 sec (P=0.2), while there was significant difference between average Act after heparin injection (572 sec) and Act value before protamine injection (599 sec) and the expected value of 400 sec during CPB (P=0.0001 and P=0.0001, respectively). There was also no significant difference between average Act after protamine injection (124.9 sec) and the normal value of 120 sec. It is revealed in this paper that when the Act procedure is not available, the routine method of 50mg heparin injection per hour and neutralizing the heparin effects by 1.5mg doses of protamine per each mg of injected heparin, possesses the necessary validity and it may be practical for the patients.

Abstract:

Vulnerability and damage assessment, planning for awareness, and reducing risk before an earthquake are essential. As the city of Yasooj is located in a high-risk area, the occurrence of a major earthquake in this city will cause lots of damages, and therefore hospitals are classified as the most important buildings. It is very important to respect the principles of passive defense in the construction of hospitals, as they are referred to, for helping the injured during earthquakes. Therefore, this research has been conducted by descriptive-analytical research method and with the aim of evaluating and comparing the vulnerability of Yasooj hospitals by two methods: passive defense and ATC (Applied Technology Council). The results of this study showed that according to the ATC method, Shohadyeh Gomnam hospital (S = 2), Imam Sajjad hospital (S = 2. 3) and Shahid Jalilfar hospital (S = 5. 5) were the most vulnerable, respectively. According to the scores of the final structural evaluation of these hospitals against seismic vulnerabilities, the Shahid Jalil, Imam Sajjad and Shohadyeh Gomnam hospitals were classified as having complete, acceptable and unacceptable safety (possibly dangerous), respectively. Also, according to the approach of passive defense, in the order of rising vulnerability, Imam Sajjad hospital (A_T=8. 01), Shahid Jalilf hospital (A_T=7. 26) and Shohadyeh Gomnam (A_T=6. 22) were the most vulnerable. Finally, based on these two methods, the vulnerabilities of Yasooj city hospitals were compared and it was founded that Shahid Jalil, Shohadyeh Gomnam and Imam Sajjad hospitals have the least vulnerability, respectively.

Abstract:

Voltage collapse is an event that causes major concern to the power system utility nowadays. The effect can be catastrophic to the power system where it can cause total collapse to the operation of the system. The study of the voltage collapse phenomenon can provide a way to prevent this event from happening. Static analysis provides the best way to study this phenomenon. There have been many methods developed to study the criteria of this phenomenon. Conventional Newton Raphson method has the singularity problem on its Jacobian matrix and thus could not give the solution. To overcome this problem, many methods had been proposed that can avoid the problem and one of them is the Continuation Power Flow (CPF) method. CPF method is a very powerful method that can provide the solution without having the singularity problem. The CPF method is improved using the new CPF-GMRES method. Although NRS (Newton - Raphson - Seydel) is an old method, it is fast and accurate. This paper expands NRS method and proves that Expanded NRS is more reliable and faster than CPF-GMRES. The idea is demonstrated on 350 bus network in IRAN (Khorasan region).

Abstract:

Background and aims: The effective human resources are the main factor for realization, resuming and success of organizational purposes. In the organization milieu, human is exposed to different kinds of mental and psychological stress and pressure. In fact, stress associates with many physical and mental diseases, or has a role on making, development and mutation of them and it decreases general health of staffs, innovation and creativity abilities and also staffs' efforts. For this reason, studying stress is important regarding personnel health, psychological hygiene, and personnel performance. Therefore, main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of job stress on general health and job performance on Air Traffic Controllers (ATC).Methods: This study is a cross-sectional, descriptive-correlation study. Statistical research community included all workers of ATC in Tehran, and then 103 individuals were selected as sample using stratified random sampling method. Flip L.R. (1992) questionnaire used for gathering data in job stress section. To collect data for general health section we used Goldberg & Hillier questionnaire and Paterson questionnaire for job performance section. The software SPSS v.19 with multi regression and simultaneously Baron and Kenny (1986) quadruplet process was used for analyzing the data. Results: The results showed that there is a negative and significant relationship between the stress which is produced in workplace and job performance. This means that increased job stress reduces job performance. Also general health has a mediating role between workplace stress and job performance. Conclusion: The results confirm the negative impact of stress on job performance and the mediating role of general health between stress and job performance in ATC. Regarding to betterment of the personal performance, it is an essential thing to design and to implement a comprehensive program in order to manage staffs' stress, to improve general health, as well as to handle the promotion and occupational safety and to accrete their participation necessities in decision-making, and these should be prioritized.
