Abstract:

Background: Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial agent belonging to the family offluoroquinoloneswith a very broad spectrum against of microbial pathogens, especially Gram-negative infectious diseases, that has been approved in more world-widecountries. The aim of this study was planned to seeeffects of ciprofloxacin after inducement, in rat Spermatogenesis.Material and Methods: The twenty male wistar rat were selected and randomly divided into two groups; control (n=10) and test (n=10). The test group was received 12.5mg/kg (PO) ciprofloxacin daily for sixty day; however the control group just received plate. In sixtieth day the testis tissue of Rat in both groups were remove and prepared for histomorphomotric study and 5cc blood samples were taken for Testosterone analysis. Results: Light microscopic observation, Score count study in seminiferous tubules confirmed most of tubules were in Score2, Score4-5, Score 6-9, and these scoreswere significantly in P<(0.05), and this results confirmed tubular, Sertoli cells syndrome, hypospermatogenisis in experimental group, in other hand most seminiferous tubules in control group was significantly in Score 10 P<(0.05), and this dataconfirmed intake tubules. There was a marked decrease in serum testosterone hormone, in experimental group as compared with control group, the statically analysis was fishers method (P<0.05).Conclusion: Since in our study ciprofloxacin had decreasing side effect on Spermatogenesis developmentin rat, it was suggested that using ciprofloxacin maybe cause harmful effects on seminiferous tubular.

Abstract:

The present study, ciprofloxacin was carried out in order to examine the probable effects of consuming this plant during the crucial days of pregnancy on fetal growth and development of liver tissue in mice. The treatment group received ciprofloxacin with a dose of 80 mg/kg intraperitoneally on organogenesis days of pregnancy. The samples stained by H&E method. The level of ALT, ALP and AST was measured by standard methods using enzymatic and biochemical kits using Autoanalyser Device Model 1000-RA manufactured by Technician Company, the USA. The collected data were expressed as Mean± SD and analyzed using T-test in order to compare the groups to find out their difference. The significance level was set at p

Abstract:

In spite of novel progresses in the methods for foodstuff’s preparation and production, consumer’s health and safety in the public hygiene import increasingly. One of the ways to control pathogenic microorganisms is the use of chemical preservatives in food. This study was done for determining antibacterial effects of Digitalis nervosa extracts on Staphylococcus aureus pathogenic bacteria. In this study the antibacterial effects of ethanolic extract of D. nervosa alone and in combination with Ciprofloxacin were evaluated on gram-positive bacteria, S. aureus (ATCC25923), by micro broth dilution method. MIC test results for D. nervosa extract and Ciprofloxacin were 4.9 and 0.5 mg/ml, respectively. Combined effects of antibiotic and the extract revealed that S. aureus was inhibited by the ethanolic extract and Ciprofloxacin respectively at 3.5 and 0.28 mg/ml. MBC were measured 7.1 and 1 mg/ml respectively against ethanolic extract and Ciprofloxacin. Simultaneous application of the extract at 1 mg/ml and Ciprofloxacin at 0.14 mg/ml destroyed S. aureus. Results showed that simultaneous use of alcoholic extract and Ciprofloxacin, reduced antibiotic usage by 48% to inhibit S. aureus and also the concomitant use of alcoholic extract and antibiotic, caused 86% reduction in antibiotic use to reach MBC point against S. aureus.

Abstract:

Ciprofloxacin is a commonly used antibiotic. Renal side effects are rare and are usually immune mediated. Clinical and experimental studies have suggested that crystalluria and crystal nephropathy occur in alkaline urine. Preexisting kidney function impairment, high dose of the medication, and advanced age predispose to this complication. We report a case of crystal nephropathy in a young woman treated with ciprofloxacin and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

Abstract:

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic nosocomial infection implicated in bacteremia in patients with compromised host defenses. Resistance to ciprofloxacin and imipenem, which are considered as suitable therapeutic options, is increasing in P. aeruginosa. Curcumin is a diferuloylmethane with antimicrobial properties. The present study was conducted to find the molecular effects of curcumin on clinical isolates with mutated genes involved in ciprofloxacin resistance. Fifty-two clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa were obtained from several hospitals and laboratories in Guilan province, northern Iran. Susceptibility to five antibiotics was evaluated by disc diffusion and broth dilution (MIC) methods. Furthermore, PCR-sequencing was carried out to evaluate mutations in topoisomerase subunits, five negative regulators of efflux pumps and oprD gene in these isolates. The effects of curcumin on the expression of mexB and mexY were evaluated using Q-RT-PCR. Of 52 P. aeruginosa isolated strains, 32-44% resistance to amikacin, ciprofloxacin, imipenem and gentamicin was observed. All isolates had mutation in gyrA. Some isolates had mutation in other topoisomerase subunits, some negative regulator genes and oprD gene. Curcumin (400µ, g/ml) along with ciprofloxacin (subMIC) increased ciprofloxacin susceptibility in four isolates. In these isolates, the expression of MexB and MexY efflux pump genes were downregulated. It seems that among P. aeruginosa isolates with various mutations in important genes in antibiotic resistant pathways, curcumin can intelligently sensitize isolates to these drugs.
