Abstract:

Dealing effectively with workplace CONFLICTs is a great challenge in employees' interactions at work. CONFLICT is almost inevitable in individual and organizational life because it stems from so many different factors. This study aimed to promote understanding of CONFLICT and CONFLICT management styles in organizations. For this purpose, a sample of 43 managers and employees of an educational institution (university) were randomly selected. Appropriate statistical analysis including Mann-Whitney test, Pearson Correlation, and X2 were utilized to analyze research data that was collected by using Dubrin and Rahim questionnaires. The findings of this article show that, although, there is no significant difference among managers and employees in perceived CONFLICT, managers perceive more CONFLICT than employees in this organization. Furthermore, results show that major styles of CONFLICT management among employees are compromise and avoidance styles, although there is no significant difference among managers and employees in using CONFLICT management styles. Some support was found for the effect of age, education & tenure on CONFLICT management styles.

Abstract:

The career and family interference CONFLICTs have existed from the past, but today it has become more widespread than before, and this research attempts to design a model of dynamic systems of double contradictions, the work-family CONFLICT, and the family-work dimensions for construction project professionals. In order to design a proposal based on the dynamic approach, Vensim software has been used. First, based on theoretical and theoretical foundations, the components that affect the CONFLICT between work-family and family-work CONFLICT were identified. Then, based on the equation between identified variables, a dynamic model of work-family CONFLICT and family-work CONFLICT was presented. The simulation results showed that construction project professionals experience a high level of work-family CONFLICT. It was also found that improvement in occupational flexibility and organizational support can have a positive impact on the satisfaction and performance of construction project professionals from the point of view of work and family. In addition, improving family support significantly improves their job satisfaction.

Abstract:

This study was conducted to propose an explanation model for mother-daughter CONFLICT based on mother personality, maternal marital CONFLICT, mother CONFLICT resolution style and daughter CONFLICT resolution style. This study was a type of correlation studies relying on multi variable regression statistical sample and structural equation model. The sample included 160 pairs of adolescent girls and their mothers. They were randomly selected from guidance school students in Naeen city. The research instruments included parental attitudes index, child attitude toward mother scales, CONFLICT management styles, marital CONFLICT questionnaire and NEO-FFI. Structural equation modeling results indicated that measured variables in this study totally could explain 71% of daughter CONFLICT with mother changes and 59% of mother CONFLICT with daughter changes (P<0.05). Among the variables, daughter CONFLICT resolution style with 55% prediction power of daughter CONFLICT variance and maternal marital CONFLICT with 29% prediction power of mother CONFLICT variance had the most important roles. The fit indexes supported the usefulness of this model.

Abstract:

Recent extinctions often resulted from humans retaliating against wildlife that threatened people’s interests or were perceived to threaten current or future interests. CONFLICT is any encounter between wildlife and humans or their property resulting in a contest or interference competition. Therefore, CONFLICT includes humans harming animals or animals harming humans or their property claims, and the harm may be motivated by any reason (intention is irrelevant). The CONFLICT between humans and carnivores in Iran has also grown significantly in recent decades. Among carnivores, the gray wolf (Canis lupus) has a higher CONFLICT with humans and animals. Wolves are known in many countries as a common example of CONFLICT with local people. In the Middle East, field observations and studies on the wolf diet indicate the dependence of this species on anthropogenic food resources (livestock, waste, etc.), which has led to a severe CONFLICT between this species with local communities. Unfortunately, the CONFLICT between humans and wolves has reached its peak in some parts of the country, especially in the western regions of Iran (Hamadan, Zanjan, Kurdistan, and Ardabil provinces) to the point that in recent years a number of local people, as well as a large number of livestock, have been killed by wolves. Therefore, addressing the ecological and behavioral aspects of this species is an important step in reducing CONFLICTs. In this research, using a review of some important papers related to human-wolf CONFLICT, we described some subjects into wolf diet, a wolf-dog hybrid, waste management, livestock and poultry carcass management, and management of wolf attacks on humans and livestock. An attempt has been made to use some of the latest findings of researchers in the world and studies conducted in Iran. The results of this study can be used to manage of human-wolf CONFLICT in Iran.

Abstract:

Background: CONFLICT is a phenomenon that has positive and negative effects on the performance of individuals and organizations. This study aimed to investigate the effect of implementing a CONFLICT management program on job CONFLICT and nurses' CONFLICT resolution styles. Materials & Methods: This experimental-interventional and before-after study was performed on 60 nurses in the Kamyab Hospital of Mashhad, Iran, in 2020. A CONFLICT management workshop was held for the intervention group for 6 hours. Then, one week after the workshop, two intra-departmental sessions were held. In both intervention and control groups, Dubrin Job CONFLICT Questionnaires and Thomas-Kilman CONFLICT mode instrument were completed at the beginning, fifteen days, and one month after the end of the inpatient sessions. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16. Results: Fifteen days and one month after the intervention, the mean score of job CONFLICT in the intervention group significantly decreased compared to the control group and before the intervention (p = 0. 003, p = 0. 008, and p<0. 001, respectively). Implementing a CONFLICT management program increased the tendency to use a collaborative style compared to the control group (p = 0. 02). Tendency to this style in the intervention group increased fifteen days and one month after the workshop compared to before the course (p <0. 001). Conclusion: Findings showed that the implementation of CONFLICT management programs for nurses leads to a reduction in job CONFLICTs among them. Further studies are suggested to explain the role of CONFLICT management program implementation in the functioning of the health system.
