Abstract:

IN RECENT YEARS, HETEROGENIZATION OF ORGAN OCATALYTIC SYSTEMS HAS BEEN ACHIEVED BY IMMOBILIZATION OF HOMOGENEOUS CATALYSTS ON VARIOUS TYPES OF ORGANIC AND INORGANIC SUPPORTS. ONE OF THIS SURFACE THAT ACT AS A SUPPORT IS CELLULOSE. CELLULOSE, BEING THE MOST ABUNDANT NATURALLY OCCURRING POLYMER ON EARTH, IS A HIGHLY INTERESTING MATERIAL DUE TO ITS RENEWABILITY, LOW PRICE, HIGH AVAILABILITY, AND GOOD MECHANICAL PROPERTIES. THE INTEREST IN CELLULOSE HAS REAWAKENED DUE TO THE CONCERN FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF SYNTHETIC POLYMERS AND FIBRES, AND AS THE PRICE OF THE RAW MATERIAL FOR PRODUCTION OF SYNTHETIC POLYMERS IS RAPIDLY INCREASING. SINCE CELLULOSE IS BOTH BIORENEWABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE, SEVERAL STUDIES HAVE FOCUSED ON THE MODIFICATION OF CELLULOSE, TO INVESTIGATE IT AS A REPLACEMENT MATERIAL FOR SYNTHETIC POLYMERS [1,2].EPOXIDES ARE IMPORTANT CLASS OF INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS THAT HAVE BEEN USED AS CHEMICAL INTERMEDIATES AND CAN BE OPENED UNDER A VARIETY OF CONDITIONS [4].IN THIS WORK, THE CATALYTIC ACTIVITY OF MN (SALEN) AND MN (SALEN)-CELLULOSE IN THE NUCLEOPHILIC RING-OPENING OF EPOXIDES AND IN THE ETOH AS SOLVENT WITH KSCN, NASCN AND THIOUREA AS NUCLEOPHIL IS REPORTED.

Abstract:

To combine the properties of degradability and low critical solution temperature transition in a single macromolecule, a new thermoresponsive polyester with oligo (ethylene glycol) side chains was designed. This particular polymer P (ME2MO-alt -SA) was prepared by alternating ring-opening copolymerization of functionalized EPOXIDE [2- ((2- (2-methoxyethoxy) ethoxy) methyl) oxirane, ME2MO] and succinic anhydride (SA) in bulk using metallic alkoxide as initiator. The effects of various kinetics conditions on ME2MO–SA copolymerization, such as initiator, polymerization time, temperature, monomer/initiator ratio, and feed ratio, are discussed in detail. The formation of an alternative structure is demonstrated and the conditions for ME2MO–SA copolymerization are optimized: aluminum isopropoxide (AIP) as initiator; monomer/initiator molar ratio (M/I) at 150; the feed ratio of comonomers at 0.5; polymerization temperature at 120oC more than 12 h. From the NMR spectra, the initiation end group is confirmed to be isopropanol ester that results from the initiation reaction of AIP with SA. However, the termination end group was variable and could be hydroxyl, carboxyl or their mixture, depending on the feed ratio of ME2MO/SA. Based on the above experimental results, the possible coordination–insertion mechanism was proposed for alternating ring-opening copolymerization of ME2MO and SA initiated by AIP, which suggested the two monomers are inserted into the O-Al and COO-Al active ends alternately.

Abstract:

Soluble EPOXIDE Hydrolase (sEH) enzyme converts Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs), substrates formed by epoxygenases from arachidonic acid, to the corresponding diols. EETs have a wide range of physiological effects. Among them, vasodilatory actions in vascular conduit, renal afferent arterioles, and coronary vessels are more considerable and lead to the regulation of blood pressure and myocardial perfusion. In addition, EETs modulate adhesion molecule expression, platelet aggregation, vascular smooth muscle cell migration, and thrombolytic properties, which could be involved in a protective mechanism against athero 5 sclerosis. Therefore, sEH inhibition that leads to the accumulation of active EETs, provides a novel approach to the treatment of hypertension and atherosclerosis. Since the most reported potent sEH inhibitors have limited pharmacokinetic profile, they aren’ t useful for clinical application. The effort to achieve to sEH inhibitors with proper potency and enhanced pharmacokinetic properties is still continuous. In this study, new urea-based compounds with oxadiazole ring against sEH enzyme were developed. The designed compounds showed a high affinity to the active site of the sEH enzyme and were synthesized in good yield and characterized by IR, Mass, and 1HNMR. Some novel compounds had comparable in vitro sEH inhibitory activity to 12-(3-Adamantan-1-yl-ureido)-dodecanoicacid (AUDA), a potent urea-based sEH inhibitor.

QSAR STUDY FOR MODELING AND PREDICTING ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE ACTIVITY OF A SERIES OF 65 NON-UREA INHIBITORS OF SOLUBLE EPOXIDE HYDROLASE APPLIED BY MEANS OF MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION (MLR), PARTIAL LEAST SQUARE (PLS), PRINCIPAL COMPONENTS REGRESSION (PCR), AND ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK (ANN) TECHNIQUES. FIRST, THIS DATA SET WAS DIVIDING INTO TWO GROUPS INCLUDING TRAINING (45 MOLECULES) AND TEST (20 MOLECULES) SETS. THEN A LARGE NUMBER OF DESCRIPTORS WERE CALCULATED USING HYPERCHEM AND DRAGON PROGRAMS FOR THESE COMPOUNDS. A SUITABLE NUMBER OF THESE DESCRIPTORS SELECTED USING STEPWISE MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION (MLR) TECHNIQUE. THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM THIS METHOD INDICATES THAT ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE ACTIVITY OF STUDIED COMPOUNDS DEPENDS ON DIFFERENT PARAMETERS CONTAINING TOPOLOGICAL, AUTOCORRELATION, 3D MORSE AND ATOM CENTERED FRAGMENTS DESCRIPTORS. THEREFORE, THESE DESCRIPTORS HAVE USED AS INPUT FOR THE ANN MODELING METHOD. THE BEST ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK IS A PROGRESSIVE NETWORK WITH A BACKWARD DISTRIBUTION OF ERRORS THAT INSTRUCTED BY LEVEN BERG-MARAQUARDT ALGORITHM (LM). FINALLY, OBTAINED RESULTS USING ALL MODELING METHODS COMPARED. CORRELATION COEFFICIENT BETWEEN EXPERIMENTAL AND CALCULATED ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE ACTIVITY OF STUDIED COMPOUNDS AND STANDARD ERROR FOR THE TRAINING AND TEST SETS USING MLR, PLS AND PCR METHODS ARE SHOWN IN TABLE 1. IN THE CASE OF ANN, DATA SET DIVIDED INTO THREE GROUPS OF TRAINING, TEST, AND VALIDATION. THE BEST RESULTS OBTAINED USING ANN MODEL THAT SHOWN IN TABLE 1.
