Abstract:

The site of Varamin is a key-site to understand the chronology and cultural development of the Jiroft region during the 4th and 3rd millennia BC. Thus, the project seeks to address one of the fundamental questions of the archaeology of the Halil Rud Basin, i. e. the transition process from the Late Chalcolithic to the Early Bronze Age and the emergence of the Jiroft culture of the 3rd millennium BC. This periodization system for the Jiroft region is backed by twelve 14C AMS radiocarbon dates. Furthermore, a rich burial (grave 1), which contained 78 complete pottery vessels and six metal objects. The tomb is attributed to the Varamin Period and dates between 3100 and 2900 BC. It is one of the few burials in the Halil Rud Basin which was found unlooted and could be investigated in a stratigraphically controlled manner. It furnishes invaluable insight into funerary customs of the Jiroft region at the beginning of the Early Bronze Age. Indeed, Varamin offers new insights into the formation of the Jiroft civilization based on developments of the 4th millennium BC. Here, we also present the preliminary results of a survey, accompanied by limited test trenches, at the large prehistoric site of Varamin. Occupied from the late 5th to the second half of the 3rd millennium BC, this site, part of a much wider settlement network, provides crucial evidence on the local processes of early urbanization and the evolution of the Halil Rud or Marḫ aš i civilization. In spite of intensive erosion and the impact of older and recent agricultural earthworks, the available archaeological record is quite rich, with evidence of monumental architecture, of two different cemeteries, and of important craft production areas (for Aliabad pottery firing, and for producing beads and stone vessels in different kinds of valuable stones). In addition, we will report the discovery of a hoard of copper artifacts exposed by erosion.

Abstract:

Brucellosis is a major public health concern in Iranian city of Jiroft. The aim of the present study was to investigate Brucellosis is one the most important contagions diseases which both human 9 animals suher from. and achieve ways to prevent or reduce its prevalence in Jiroft aoty in sautheust Iran localed in kerman province this disease, a sample of 1000 cows were surveyed in the region. First, taking to account animal population density, sample sizes were first determined for four different part of the region central part, Anbarabad jehalbares and sardueye. Then, dispersion of the herds together with the population density in each part were considered for random selection of sample villages, specified sampling areas in the village, and relevant number of cows in each area. The selected animals were bled in their cervical vein using syringe, alcohol and absorbent cotton. The Rose Bengal test was then performed on prepared serums followed by a Wright and 2ME test on the positive and/or doubtful samples. The findings together with the viewpoints of 338 ranchers revealed that Sardueyeh is the main infected areas in the region from where the disease is dispersed to the other places.sardueyeh has the hiyhest contamination rate(11.37%) in the region. The Central part, Anbarabad and Jebalbares has contamination rates of 5.33%,2.04% and 0.38% respectively. Moreover, we showel that summer movement of the animals to the cold area of Sardueyeh and their winter return is recognized to be the main reason for distributing the infection to the warm regions.

Abstract:

The limit and definition of the cultural zone of Jazmurian in the southeastern Iran is identical with the geographical boundarise of Jazmurian basin and in geographical setting. The cultural zone of Jazmurian could be identified with the ancient Makan of Akadian period, Gedrosia and Achofadjia of historical period. The remains of ancient city of Jiroft during Islamic period at the Archeaological site of Shahre –e- Daqyanus with more than 12 sq. km have been identified. The city was a metropolitan with various quarters, squares, streets, four gates, market, mosque, different public bathes, mint, industrial quarter and workshops, kilns of pottery and cemetry. There is mass production of different types of Islamic Ceramics in Jiroft from 7th – 13th centuries. These types of ceramics have connection & similarity with other contemporary types in other cultural centers such as China, Oman and inside Iran Such as Nishapur, Suse, Kashan, Rey and Jurjan. The prosperous and wealthy city of Jiroft was destroyed by the continoues attacks of Ghoz and finally was abandoned in the 7th century (13th A.D).

Abstract:

The soil engineering evaluation can be useful for construction and soil use. Aljarafe model has been used to evaluate the soil engineering properties by multiple regression techniques. In this research, Aljarafe model was used to predict the optimum moisture and plasticity index based on 184 series soils data of the Miandoab region. Based on all correlations between clay percentage and plasticity index, the optimum moisture proved to be highly significant (0. 88 & 0. 72). Also, Cation Exchange Capacity was significantly correlated (0. 84 & 0. 70) with the engineering properties. However, the correlation coefficients for the organic matter with optimum moisture and plasticity index were very low in the absolute amount. Application of the aljarafe model revealed that 50. 3, 5. 7, 0 and 44 % of the total extension could be classified as low, moderate and very high, respectively; on the other hand, based on the experiment data, 46, 13, 6 and 35 % could be classified as low, moderate, high and very high plasticity index classes, respectively. So, there was an overall agreement between the aljarafe model and Analytical Plasticity index maps, which was 80. 4. Also, the coefficient of Determination, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Nash-Sutcliffe index (NES) and Geometric Mean Error Ratio (GMER) between calculated and experiment engendering properties was calculated to be 0. 767, 9. 3, 0. 671 and 0. 86 for the plasticity index and 0. 739, 14. 5, 0. 543 and 0. 73 for optimum moisture, respectively, were significant (P>5%). Finally, the aljarafe model provided a reliable estimate of engineering properties.

Abstract:

Poor management of agricultural waste is one of the sources of water pollution. In this study, the surface water quality of Jiroft Dam watershed was modeled using the QSWAT model. The study area is located at the upstream of Jiroft Dam watershed with the total area of 783446.81 hectares in Kerman province. The rainfall-runoff model was simulated over the 21 years from 2000 to 2020 for a monthly time step. Data from Konaroye hydrometric station was used as observed flow data. The meteorological data was collected from Baft synoptic station. The model was calibrated and validated using the SUFI-2 automated algorithm in SWAT-CUP software for periods (2011-2019) and (2008-2010), respectively. The final results of determination and Nash-Sutcliffe coefficients from calibration and validation processes obtained 0.79, 0.77, 0.81 and 0.82, respectively. Sensitivity analysis was performed for 12 calibration parameters. The results show that base-flow alpha factor is the most sensitive parameter. After modeling of the flow rates in watershed, in next step surface water quality was modeled in QSWAT by considering Urea as fertilizer which is mostly used on the area under cultivation of Jiroft Dam watershed. The results for Nitrate load show that model prediction is in good agreement with the experimental data. The results of this study show that QSWAT model can be used as an effective and efficient method in order to predict surface water quality and managing of water resources.

Abstract:

The huge and historical landslide of Jiroft, being about 53 Km2 in area, is located in 35 Km NW of Jiroft town just adjacent to Jiroft Dam and in coordinates of 28o 45¢   to 28o 53 ¢ N and 57o 20’  to 57o 30¢  E. This slide which has taken place as a result of massive movement of upper reefal part of Qom formation dipping only 6o, 8 cubic kilometers in volume and about 300 meters thickness over the underlying marls, is recognizable based on shattered rocks, anomaly along the course of Halil Roud and the presence of well-rounded igneous boulders in some parts among the shattered rocks. As a result of this slide, the course of Halil was completely blocked and an ephemeral lake was created. Afterwards, the lake overflowed in another place (the present place of the Dam) which was the lowest point in its periphery. Due to this river detour, the Halil Roud incised its fan, created a gorge from the overflowing point to its confluence point, as well as incision of several small fans along its course. The presence of several active faults and low slope of the sliding mass imply the probable influence of earthquake and heavy precipitation as triggering mechanisms. The main characteristics of this slide include very low slope (6o), its size (53 km2 in area and maximum run-out distance of about 7 km), comprising four parts, specific mechanism (like other sturztorms) and its time of occurrence (probably 60000 to 100000 years ago). Depending on the classification of landslides, it may be considered as extremely rapid rock slide, sturzstorm, rock avalanche as well as debris avalanche. The desert varnish of boulders engaged in the slide mass and the solution runnels generated after the slide suggest that the age of the slide is about tens of thousands to several thousands years ago.

Abstract:

In the present study, in order to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental and climatic changes of Jiroft during the last 4000 years, several evidences of sedimentology and biogeochemistry on a sedimentary core have been investigated. Around. 3950 cal yr BP, low values of Ti/Al, Si/Al, C/N and CPI along with high values of δ13COM, and Paq indicate a wet period in Jiroft. evidence indicates a relative decrease in humidity between about 3900 and 3293 cal yr BP. Between 3293 and 2897 cal yr BP, Jiroft was dry and dusty. The results show very dry conditions with a significant increase in the amount of dust around 3200 cal yr BP. A long-wet period from about 2897 to 2302 cal yr BP can be recognized with high Paq values. The highest Ti/Al values along with the lowest δ13COM values indicate increased wind activity and dry conditions between 2100 and 1650 cal yr BP. Jiroft experienced wet conditions between 1540 and 1315 cal yr BP. With the relative decrease of rainfall, a semi-humid climate prevailed in Jiroft between 1315 and 854 cal yr BP.

Abstract:

Objective (s): Measles is a severe acute respiratory viral infection. The single-stranded RNA morbillivirus from the Paramixoviridea family is easily transmitted among humans through coughing or sneezing droplets. Methods: This was a case-control study that was carried out among people living in cities under coverage of Jiroft University of Medical Sciences, Jiroft, Iran in 2014-2015. Seventy-five patients with confirmed measles (case group) and 150 healthy individuals (control group) were selected for the study. The case group included entered into the study through census method. The control group was randomly selected by simple random sampling from the people who had the inclusion criteria. To control the confounding factors, each case was matched with two persons from the control group for age and gender. Conditional logistic regression was used to analyze the data. Results: After adjusting for confounding variables, a significant relationship between measles and, not receiving the vaccine (OR=14. 35, CI 95%=7. 03-29. 27), the history of contact with the definite cases of measles (OR=1. 9, CI 95%=1. 09-3. 43), nonnative residents (OR=5. 46, CI 95%=1. 88-15. 78), mother's age of older than 30 years at birth (OR=2. 8, CI 95%=1. 23-6. 38) were identified. Conclusion: Based on the findings independent risk factors for developing measles disease were not having measles vaccine, non-native people, history of contact with definite cases of measles and, mother's age at birth.

Abstract:

In this investigation groundwater modeling is attempted monitoring water table fluctuations of Jiroft basin using PMWIN computer model. Parameters like hydraulic conductivity, specific yield and groundwater abstraction and recharge were estimated by matching of the data from 41 observation wells for the period 1381-1386 to those predicted by the model using automatic calibration procedure with PEST. Verification of the model for a 6 month period in 1387 showed that the predicted water levels had a good match with the observed water levels with a root mean square error of 0.865. The verified model was used for the prediction of groundwater table behavior for the next 4 years.
