This article reviews and criticizes The Generative Lexicon by James Pustejovsky. Generative Lexicon (GL) is a linguistic semantic theory that proposes a framework for representing lexical knowledge. The lexical semantic representations as introduced in GL are, in fact, part of the information stored in the Lexicon. GL is concerned with explaining the creative use of language. By taking this into account the structure and multiple representational levels for different types of lexical information, GL provides a new way for creating multiple meanings through a process of combining. This article firstly provides a short introduction about the book and then in the second part, Generative Lexicon theory is introduced, and then the structure and content of the book is mentioned in the third part. In the rest of the paper, the criticisms and evaluation of the book are presented in two sub-sections (a) appearance, form, and structure, and (b) evaluation of content. In the final section of the paper, the conclusion and concluding remarks on the book are presented.

Iranian language varieties, dialects, and accents provide areas of investigation into recognizing Iranian languages, and cultures. Yazdian variety, which belongs to southeast Iranian languages group, includes some features of ancient Iranian languages and would be a good source for studying. The present research is an attempt to study the Lexical oppositeness as one of the most significant lexical relations in Yazdian Lexicon. The findings of the research reveal that two opposite words include simultaneous distance as well as simultaneous closeness, and there is, at least, one main lexical similarity between the words.

Figures of speech and imagery are indispendable parts of poetry. The essence of poetry will be lost if poetry is devoid of them. For the same reason, poem is called an "imaginative speech". As a good means available to poets for createing literary works, Ferdowsi has nicely made use of imagery in Shahnameh. Owing to the heroic nature of his masterpiece, Ferdowsi has employed words referring to war instruments artistically in different parts of his book. Ferdowsi masterly uses imagery and the names of old weapons Furthermore, the rise and the fall of the sun is overshadowed by the way he talks about war and its weapons as he describes dawn and dusk heroically. His heroic and lyrical imagery load to the creation imaginative weapons in, the word "Nahang" (Whale) instead of "Shamshir" (Sword) "Azhdeha" (dragon) instead of "Neizeh" (Spear), which not only cause to stop repeating the same words, but also increase the beauty of his speech. In this article, attempt has been made to study these imaginative words which have been introduced as "War Lexicon".

Lexicography has apparently a relative long background in the history of the Persian culture and literature. The existence of the two Avestan and Pahlavi Lexicons, Oim-ewak and Pahlavig, indicates that this know-how had developed into some stages of its perfection in the Sasanid era. Though the Lexicons probably reached their final compilation in the 3rd and 4th AH centuries, the origins of this knowledge trace back to more ancient periods. The Oim-ewak Lexicon includes some Avestan words and sentences with their Middle Persian translations. In its modern format, this Lexicon has an introduction and 27 chapters. The content of each chapter is often arranged on the basis of a specific subject and therefore, indicates that the author has seemingly been familiar with this method of lexicography. The subjects of some chapters are: numerals and adverbs; gender and number for nouns, adjectives and verbs; relative pronouns and time measuring.Moreover, the Oim-ewak Lexicon is particularly significant regarding its inclusion of some linguistic terminologies, and words used in the Avestan texts of the Sasanid era, which are not accessible today.The article studies the methods of lexicography, on the basis of this Lexicon.

This paper investigates the types and the nature of lexical entries by making distinction between stress and pitch accents in the framework of auto segmental-metrical phonology (AM). Stress is a lexical property and every lexical item has a stressed syllable. Pitch accent refers to the prominence in speech and only lexically stressed syllables can take a pitch accent. Lexemes and morphemes are units of Lexicon, because base forms and affixes take pitch accents equally. It means that affixes also have independent identity in the Lexicon. Some affixes do not take pitch accent and this gives them different place in grammar. Phonologically speaking, non-simple words are also lexical items. The results of this research can be used in formalizing Persian morphology for speech processing and other linguistic studies.

This article studies the relationship between Lexicon & morphology. Then it deals with the production of potential and existed words and also their situation in language. In this essay we see the frequency of regular and irregular words. Morphological productivity is also studied quantitatively and qualitatively. At the end the relationship between frequency & productivity and then frequency & pragmatics are studied.

A remarkable percentage of innocents traditions are about explanation and interpretation of Lexicon. With study of these traditions, it is obvious that innocents' explanations either Qora'nic Lexicons or other traditional terms -are not of the same type, but there is a special variety among them. Some are about explanation and interpretation of Lexicons and some cases are paraphrasing explanations, etc. This article attempts to identify the different types of explanations of Lexicons in innocents' traditions; also study of the semantic development of Lexicons in these traditions is another goal of this article.
