Abstract: 

Objective: The study intends to provide a suitable model and practical solutions for design and implementation of future digital Libraries with emphasis on offering smart services Methods: Content analysis was used to collect, extract and analyze the necessary data using LIS and Computer Science corpus as the baseline.Findings: given the deployment of artificial intelligent devices and emerging ICT services, future trend of digital Libraries posits “Smart Libraries” as a new generation of digital Libraries. One of the hallmarks of such Libraries that lends itself to faster and easier user access to information includes intelligent meta search engines, clustering techniques, trend analysis, knowledge discovery, library customization, query answering, intelligent search and statistical survey.

Abstract: 

This article considers the many developments in technology and practice that are making Libraries more connected and interdependent. It looks at new integrated online services and reviews the increasing importance of both formal and informal standards. Global centralized Web services are discussed. The relationships between information industry companies and Libraries are considered. Virtual reference services and far-reaching digitization projects are explored. The article concludes that close cooperation is allowing Libraries to take their services to new levels and is a key to the continued innovation of those services.

Abstract: 

School library represents one of the important locations suited for offering reference services. The skill set necessary in order to use information resources, is called information literacy. When discussing information literacy and means of enhancing it, the first thing that comes to mind is the classroom for it is in schools that the foundation for learning skills is laid. Pathfinders have been used by Libraries and librarians for guiding patrons to the required sources and answering their research questions since 1970’s. It is far different from a bibliography in as much as it does not necessarily include a complete list of available resources on a given topic. Nevertheless it provides sufficient basic resources for research for the patrons. Nowadays pathfinders are prepared by teacher-librarian or with the help of teachers at school so as to assist students in searching their prescribed assignments. The present paper offers definition of pathfinder, creation of pathfinders in schools, type of pathfinders, pathfinders characteristics, pathfinder elements as well as how to design pathfinders for children and teenagers.

Abstract: 

Marketing is an essential factor in the lifeline of organizations as well as in commercial and non-commercial institutions including the library. The conceptual framework of marketing in Libraries seems to lack the sufficient understanding, clarity and unity of outlook it needs.Furthermore, Libraries in Iran, in particular, fail to utilize this concept in an appropriate scientific manner. To this end, the present article dwells upon the theoretical insights on the issue of marketing in Libraries and intends to take an effective step towards the dissemination of the idea in Libraries in Iran while introducing the concept of "the Marketing Mix".

Abstract: 

Internet librarianship, Library 2.0 and Webinomics are but few examples of the terms that have come to affect our Net-Centric existence. Cooperative organization of web-based resources or Folksonomy is yet another facet of this existence. While, per se, it deals with electronic based or Net-based materials, it is not totally in keeping with the fact that it does not cover the physical Libraries. The present paper presents the experience gained in using Folksonomy and establishing a Library 2.0 system in a technical university library. Using a variation of Referral Technical Research Service for a limited period, a 30 day snapshot of query language employed by the patrons was developed. A team poured over the data to analyze both the queries and the results in order to discern patterns. The pattern(s) were used to optimize tagging and services. The patrons’ intrinsic tagging behavior was incorporated into a collaborative tagging routine. Using a cognitive construct to better understand tagging relegation by the patrons, this tagging was extended to tangible library information assets. In essence, two levels of access were incorporated, one level being static and based on library practice, and the other being a level dynamically shifting based on the customer profile and cognitive style.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the university Libraries’,responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and determine their services patterns. Method: This study is a qualitative exploration by collecting data through phone and online interviews of selected heads or assistants of thirteen university Libraries. The interview recordings were transcribed with the help of callX software. The content of the interviews was analyzed and coded using MaxQDA software and led to the extraction of 220 initial codes. Findings: Almost all the central Libraries of the studied universities limited their in-person services during Covid 19 pandemic but engaged with the users and tried to increase digital and remote services. Revamping their web pages, Flexibility in presenting services, development of information dissemination to users were the most important services and activities that central Libraries presented in the pandemic era. Two of the most significant services which they have started during this period, are librarian booking and online videoconference interview with the users. Conclusion: although Covid 19 quickly invaded Libraries and reduced the opportunity for a quick response, some of the studied central Libraries took advantage of the crisis and provided suitable services to students such as setting up digital reference desks, purchase of software to organize electronic resources in the library, online reference interview with users etc.

Abstract: 

This article is about the problems and common interests, which exist among different kinds of Libraries. Describes values of Libraries and introduces eight values for standard of assessing Libraries: stewardship, services, intellectual freedom, privacy, and rationalism, commitment to literacy and learning, equity of access to record knowledge and information, and democracy. Although most of services and programs are changing and will be changed by the use technology in Libraries at present and future, the values of Libraries will remain the same forever.

Abstract: 

Objective: The Present Study has been Performed with the Purpose of Comparative Study Qom’s Participative Libraries and Libraries related to Foundation of Public Libraries Concerning the Application Level 4p Marketing Mix Style.Methodology: The methodology of this study is “Survey” descriptive and inferential statistics (T test) has been used for description and analysis data. the Population of the study were included 55 public Libraries of qom province, among wich 22 Libraries are run as an foundational and 33 Libraries to work participative with public Libraries foundation. Information has been collected through the check list and visiting, check lists returned by four Libraries and Population under study were reduced to 21 participative library and 30 foundational Libraries. To evaluate the validity of the check list has been utilized by teachers feedback and Libraries administrators. Cronbachs alpha has been used to measure reliability that check list had acceptable reliability (0.90).Findings: Results of the study indicated that the product, price, place and promotion of foundational Libraries respectively with averages (0.82), (0.72), (1.2), (1.07) than the product, price, place and promotion of participative Libraries with averages (0.50), (0.46), (0.77), (0.74) are better.Conclusion: Hypothesis test results indicated that significant different exists between averages of the three elements product, price and place of foundational and participative Libraries but, there is not significant different between averages promotion. Furthermore, significant different exists between application level 4p marketing mix style in participative and foundational Libraries and foundational Libraries status concerning the application level 4p marketing mix style with average (53.90) desirable than participative Libraries(35.67). The results of this study can provide information that might underlie future planning.
