ADSORPTION OF METHANE AND CARBON DIOXIDE ON ZEOLITE NAA WAS PERFORMED AT TEMPERATURES OF 277, 290, AND 310 K AND IN THE PRESSURE RANGE 0 TO 10 BAR. ISOSTERIC HEATS OF ADSORPTION WERE 20.22 AND 32.74 KJ/MOL FOR, METHANE, AND CARBON DIOXIDE, RESPECTIVELY. THE RESULTS WAS INDICATED A STRONG ADSORPTION OF CARBON DIOXIDE ON THE SURFACE OF THE ZEOLITE. ALSO, EQUILIBRIUM SELECTIVITY AT TEMPERATURES OF 277, 290, AND 310 K WERE 3.96, 4.51, AND 7, RESPECTIVELY.

MEMBRANE SEPARATION PROCESS USING NAA ZEOLITE MEMBRANE IS A GOOD ALTERNATIVE PROCESS FOR ETHYLENE GLYCOL PURIFICATION IN TERMS OF BOTH ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS. THE MAIN FOCUS OF THIS WORK IS TO OBTAIN NAA ZEOLITE MEMBRANE SYNTHESIZED ON A TUBULAR ALUMINA SUPPORT WHERE SUPPORT SURFACE IS MODIFIED BY TIO2-BUHEMIT. PERFORMANCE OF MEMBRANE FOR WATER -ETHYLENE GLYCOL SEPARATION VIA PERVAPORATION AND EFFECT OF FEED TEMPERATURE WAS STUDIED. THE OBTAINED RESULTS REVEALED THAT BY INCREASING FEED TEMPERATURE, THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SYNTHESIZED NAA MEMBRANE IN DEHYDRATION OF ETHYLENE GLYCOL INCREASES CONSIDERABLY.

IN THIS RESEARCH, SYNTHESIZED NAA NANOZEOLITE FROM SLAG SILICA WAS USED FOR DETERMINATION OF H2O2. THE SILICA IN AMORPHOUS PHASE WITH 63.75% PURITY WAS EXTRACTED FROM SLAG, AND USED EFFECTIVELY AS A NEW SOURCE OF SILICA FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF NAA NANOZEOLITE. THE NANO SIZED NAA IN PURE PHASE WITH A RANGE OF 58- 95 NM HAS BEEN SYNTHESIZED AT LOW TEMPERATURE, WITHOUT ADDING ANY ORGANIC ADDITIVES [1]. THE SILVER MODIFIED NAA USED TO INVESTIGATE THE ELECTEROCATALYTIC REDUCTION OF H2O2. THE CAPABILITY OF AG/NAACPE ELECTRODE WAS INVESTIGATED BY CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRY IN A POTENTIAL RANGE OF -0.8 TO 0.2V AT VARIOUS H2O2 CONCENTRATIONS [2]. IN THE ABSENCE OF H2O2, NO OBVIOUS REDUCTION CURRENT OF AG PARTICLES WAS OBSERVED FROM THE CV RESPONSE. WITH THE ADDITION OF H2O2, A REDUCTION CURRENT WAS OBSERVED WHICH INCREASE H2O2 CONCENTRATION. THE INTENSITY AND POTENTIAL WERE INCREASED BY THE MODIFIED ZEOLITE ELECTRODE.

ZEOLITES, DEFINED AS CRYSTALLINE AND POROUS ALUMINOSILICATES (OR OTHER METAL OXIDES), POSSESS THREE-DIMENSIONALLY CONNECTED FRAMEWORK STRUCTURES CONSTRUCTED FROM CORNERSHARING TO4 TETRAHEDRA, WHERE T IS ANY TETRAHEDRALLY COORDINATED CATION SUCH AS SI OR AL [1].THE FORMULA, SYMMETRY AND STRUCTURE OF SAMPLES OF DIFFERENT SI- AL RATIO, NA CONTENT AND THE SOURCE OF SILICA WERE FOUND TO BE DIFFERENT IN STRUCTURE, TOPOLOGY, SIZE OF PARTICLES, …. UP TO NOW, MANY KIND OF SILICA SOURCES USED FOR SYNTHESIS OF NAA ZEOLITE. BUT, TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE, THERE IS NO REFERENCES FOR SYNTHESIS OF ZEOLITE NAA FROM SLAG.THEREFORE, IN THIS WORK, SYNTHESIS OF NAA ZEOLITE FROM SLAG WAS INVESTIGED. SLAG IS USUALLY A MIXTURE OF METAL OXIDES AND SILICON DIOXIDE. HOWEVER, SLAGS CAN CONTAIN METAL SULFIDES AND METAL ATOMS IN THE ELEMENTAL FORM [2].THE SLAG USED IN THIS WORK WAS CHARACTERIZED BY X-RAY FLUORESCENCE (XRF) AND THE RESULTS SHOWN THAT SLAG IS CONTAINS 31.21%SIO2 AND 5.60% AL2O3. SIO2 WAS EXTRACTED FROM SLAG IN ACIDIC MEDIA AND EXTRACTION EFFICIENCY WAS OBTAINED 30% [3]. ACCORDING TO THE RESULTS, THE SLAG WASUSED EFFECTIVELY AS A NEW SOURCE OF SILICA FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF NAA ZEOLITE. THE SYNTHESIZED NAA ZEOLITE IN PURE PHASE HAS BEEN SYNTHESIZED FROM A GEL ALUMINOSILICATE WITH HIGH ALKALINITY AT LOW TEMPERATURE, WITHOUT ADDING ANY ORGANIC ADDITIVES. ALSO, THE EFFECTS OF CRYSTALLIZATION TIME, REACTION TEMPERATURE, AND SIO2/AL2O3, NA2O/H2O RATIOS, IN THE INITIAL SYNTHETIC MIXTURE ON THE CRYSTALLIZATION OF NAA ZEOLITE WERE STUDIED. THE CRYSTALLIZATION OF NAA ZEOLITE FROM SLAG WAS CHARACTERIZED BY X-RAY DIFFRACTION (XRD), SCANING ELECTERON MICROSCOPY (SEM), AND FT-IR TECHNIQUES. THE SEM IMAGE OF MICROPOROUS SILICA (NAA) SHOWS SPHERICAL PARTICLES WITH AVERAGE DIAMETER OF 500 NM.
