Abstract:

The present study is the result of a content analysis on the book“,Testing English Language SKILLS, From Theory to Practice”,written by Farhady, Jafarpour, and Birjandi. This book is one of the most widely-used textbooks selected by language instructors for the testing courses of TEFL, Translation, and English literature majors. Using McDonough, Shaw, and Masuhara’, s (2013) textbook evaluation framework, the authors carried out both internal and external evaluations of the claims made by the authors in the preface of the book. The claims included: using lucid language, comprehensive coverage, a desirable organization of the materials presented and a direct relevance to the Iran’, s context. Furthermore, the textbook was also analyzed based on its physical appearance, content, and methodology. The strengths and weaknesses in each domain were categorized and presented. At the end, some recommendations have been made to the authors, in case of any future editions of the textbook by the authors.

Abstract:

Various studies confirm that the evaluation of environmental quality indicators in sensitive uses such as medical buildings plays an important role in maintaining the health, satisfaction and improvement of patients. The hospital is one of the vital and sensitive parts of the city, which should be given special attention in terms of the conditions related to passive defense in order to manage risks. The main goal of the research is to evaluate the impact of environmental factors on the improvement of the accessibility of the users of treatment spaces in crisis situations with the passive defense approach. The current research is exploratory in nature and descriptive-survey in terms of data collection method. The research plan in the development of tools and preparation of expressions in three stages (1) content analysis of documents; (2) Delphi survey and (3) semiotic analysis are defined. Using questionnaire data and spss26 software and using Friedman's test to check the normality of the data to check the relationship between the variables, a statistical analysis was performed, finally with a plan analysis of two Rasoul Akram and Laleh hospitals in Tehran using Depth software. Map was used to examine the syntactic components and their relationship with the components studied in the research. According to the obtained results, the functional, physical and social indicators in accessibility are related to spatial depth and interconnectedness indicators in the space syntax method, and as a result, they affect the accessibility of space in crisis conditions in hospitals.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Pregnancy anxiety is triggered  by a woman's concerns about pregnancy, childbirth, the health of the baby, and future parenting  negatively affecting pregnancy outcomes. Studies addressing the impact  of life SKILLS training on health, particularly in pregnant women, are rare with inconclusive findings. The present study aimed to assess the effect of life SKILLS training by a trained midwife on the mitigation of  pregnancy anxiety. Materials and Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted in Abadan, Iran, in 2020. After assessing 180 pregnant women for eligibility, 86 pregnant women were selected from six clinics according to the inclusion criteria and allocated to control or intervention groups randomly. The intervention group underwent a 90-minute life SKILLS training(self-awareness, problem-solving, coping with stress, coping with emotions, interpersonal relationships)every week for six weeks. Data were analyzed using a Chi-squared test, paired t-test, and ANCOVA method. Results: No differences were detected between the two groups in terms of demographic and obstetric characteristics, as well as the mean scores of pregnancy anxiety and its domains. After the intervention, the mean score of pregnancy anxiety(P<0.001) and domains of self-centered fears(P<0.001), fear of giving birth(P<0.001), fear of bearing a handicapped baby(P<0.01), concern about mood changes(P<0.0001), and concern over changes in the marital relationship(P<0.0001), in the intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group. Conclusion: The implementation of selected life SKILLS training by a midwife in a course shorter than that of the current courses could successfully reduce pregnancy-related anxiety. Therefore, it can be used by midwives as an effective non-pharmacologic approach in pregnancy .

Abstract:

Background: Managers’ communication SKILLS are one of the most important topics in educational sector of universities of medical sciences and may have considerable effect on faculty members and employees. This study was performed to determine the level of communication SKILLS (verbal, listening, feedback) of the heads of department of faculties and its relation with some demographic variables. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2009 to January 2010. We enrolled all of the heads of departments (N=60) in Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, western Iran. The participants received a self-administered 24-item questionnaire in Likert format (six general items and 18 items related to communication SKILLS). Data were analyzed with SPSS software using Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests. Results: The average scores of verbal, listening and feedback communication were 22.5, 16.1 and 21.1, respectively. Accordingly, 78.3% of participants in verbal communication, 16.7% in listening communication and 73.3% in feedback communication had high status. There were significant differences between the average score of listening SKILLS and age (P=0.013) as well as gender (P=0.042). In addition, there was a significant statistical difference between verbal SKILLS and gender (P=0.021).Conclusion: The overall communication SKILLS of more than half of the heads of departments were moderate. This needs designing some pro-grams for improving department managers’ communication SKILLS.
