Renewable Energy Sources (RES) are well-defined as energy sources, that are in abundance within the natural surroundings and are much inexhaustible. In addition, hydroelectricity (HE) is a vital part of world renewable energy supply and Hydropower remains a bulk source of electricity generation because of its environmental friendliness in nature. Modeling is the analysis of the non-linear models which represent the fundamental parts of the Hydropower plant (governor, turbine, servomotor). This paper studies accurate and elaborate hydraulic turbine and governor models and its implementation in MATLAB/Simulink combined with the Sims cape Power Systems (SPS). An effort has been created to develop a plant model and examine the suitableness of controllers during a governor model for fault incidence within the system by means Simulink based simulation. The Ziegler– Nichols tuning methodology was applied for specifying the gain coefficients of a governor (PID-PI) under 50% of load demand from the plant. Also, MATLAB/Simulink gave the chance to record and compare the figures of the plant with PID & PI controllers through simulation tests within the commonest cases (three-phase fault, load demand variation) with a view of finding out the potency and therefore, the stability of the system.

UNDERWATER TRAVEL IS GREATLY LIMITED BY THE SPEED THAT CAN BE ATTAINED BY THE VEHICLES. USUALLY, THE MAXIMUM SPEED ACHIEVED BY UNDERWATER VEHICLES IS ABOUT 40 M/S. SUPERCAVITATION CAN BE VIEWED AS A PHENOMENON THAT WOULD HELP US TO BREAK THE SPEED BARRIER IN UNDERWATER VEHICLES. THE IDEA IS TO MAKE THE VEHICLE SURROUNDED BY WATER VAPOR WHILE IT IS TRAVELING UNDERWATER. THUS, THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY TRAVELS IN AIR AND HAS VERY SMALL SKIN FRICTION DRAG. THIS ALLOWS IT TO ATTAIN HIGH SPEEDS UNDERWATER. IT IS REALLY HARD TO CONTROL AND MANEUVER A SUPERCAVITATING VEHICLE. THE FIRST PART OF THIS PAPER DEALS WITH MODELING OF A SUPERCAVITATING TORPEDO. NONLINEAR EQUATIONS OF MOTION ARE PRESENTED IN DETAIL. THE LATTER PART OF THE WORK DEALS WITH FINDING A CONTROLLER TO MANEUVER THE TORPEDO. A CONTROLLER IS OBTAINED BY LQR SYNTHESIS. FOR THE SYNTHESIS, IT IS ASSUMED THAT THE CAVITY IS FIXED AND THE TORPEDO IS SITUATED SYMMETRICALLY IN THE CAVITY. THE ROBUSTNESS ANALYSIS OF THE LQR CONTROLLERS IS CARRIED OUT BY CALCULATING THE GAIN AND PHASE MARGINS. SIMULATIONS OF THE RESPONSE FOR A PERTURBED SYSTEM ALSO HAVE BEEN STUDIED.

IN THIS PAPER WE PRESENT MODELING AND Simulink IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ISOLATED WIND DIESEL HYBRID SYSTEM (WDHS) WHICH UTILIZE A BATTERY BASED ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM (BESS). THE BESS CONSISTS OF A BATTERY AND A POWER CONVERTER WHICH PERFORMS THE DC TO AC CONVERSION TO INTERFACE THE BATTERY WITH AN ISOLATED GRID. IN ORDER TO HAVE HIGH POWER CAPABILITY, LOW COST, DURABILITY DUE TO IMPROPER USE AND NO ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES, THE BEST CHOICE FOR WDHS IS THE NI–MH BATTERY. THE MODELING OF THE EVERY PART OF THE HYBRID SYSTEM WHICH CONSIST A DIESEL GENERATOR (DG), A WIND TURBINE GENERATOR (WTG), THE CONSUMER LOAD, A BATTERY STORAGE SYSTEM AND A DUMP LOAD (DL) IS PRESENTED AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE IS TESTED THROUGH DYNAMIC SIMULATION. SIMULATION RESULTS WITH GRAPHS FOR THE FREQUENCY AND VOLTAGE OF THE ISOLATED POWER SYSTEM, ACTIVE POWERS GENERATED/ABSORBED BY THE DIFFERENT ELEMENTS AND THE BATTERY VOLTAGE/CURRENT/STATE OF CHARGE ARE PRESENTED FOR LOAD AND WIND SPEED CHANGES. THE SIMULATION RESULTS FOR THE BATTERY/NO BATTERY CASES ARE COMPARED AND SHOW A REMARKABLE IMPROVEMENT IN THE SYSTEM DYNAMICS DUE TO THE USE OF THE BESS.

POWER SYSTEM DYNAMICS COURSE (PSDC) IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT COURSES IN THE MSC/M.TECH PROGRAM OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AT MOST OF THE UNIVERSITIES WORLDWIDE.HOWEVER, DUE TO THE DIFFICULTIES EXIST IN THIS COURSE, STUDENTS ARE UNABLE TO LEARN THE POWER SYSTEMS DYNAMICS, PROPERLY. THIS PAPER INTRODUCES A TOOL BASED ON MATLAB SOFTWARE THAT IS USEFUL FOR EDUCATING PSDC, EFFECTIVELY. A TOOL BASED ON MATPOWER AND Simulink (MATSIM) HAS DEVELOPED IN THIS PAPER. MATSIM UTILIZES MATPOWER FOR POWER FLOW STUDIES WHICH IS REQUIRED TO CALCULATE STEADY-STATE OPERATING POINTS. ALSO, IT USES Simulink TO SOLVE THE DIFFERENTIAL ALGEBRAIC EQUATIONS (DAES) OF A POWER SYSTEM. A SINGLE-MACHINE INFINITE-BUS POWER SYSTEM, A 3-MACHINE POWER SYSTEM, AND A 10-MACHINE POWER SYSTEM ARE PROVIDED AS EXAMPLES IN MATSIM. AT PRESENT IN BEGINNING PHASE, THIS PACKAGE IS ENCOURAGED TO BE USED BY MOST OF THE STUDENTS OF LORESTAN UNIVERSITY, IRAN AND NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, ROURKELA (NITR) FOR COMPLETING THEIR PSDC ASSIGNMENTS OR STUDIES.

چکیده: 

The nonlinear and time varying nature of electric arc furnaces (EAFs) create flicker, harmonics, and voltage/current unbalances. Nowadays high-speed compensators like STATCOM can improve the performance of EAFs and the power quality problems of electrical systems around them. This paper uses a time domain model for electric arc furnaces and a new model of STATCOM respectively for creating mentioned power quality problems and inactive power compensation. In this paper, we investigate and simulate electric arc furnace and STATCOM using Simulink/PSB. Then, we simulate a network including them completely. The proposed model takes into account arcing conditions and some power quality effects improvement.
