The paper considers the application of waste sorption material utilization and pumpkin seed husks formed during the extraction of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions, as a combustible additive to clay mixtures in production of the porous ceramics. In this regard, this study evluates the effects of different amounts (2-8%) of the spent sorption material in the charge composition with changes in the physical and mechanical properties of ceramic samples obtained by firing at temperatures of 950-1050 ° C. One finding is that the combustion of the organic additive is accompanied by the formation of voids and the release of gases with the formation of pores in the ceramic piece. Another finding is that all clay mixtures with a combustible additive allow the production of porous ceramics to meet the requirements for compressive strength, porosity, density, water absorption and linear shrinkage. It is recommended using 4 % of combustive additive in order to obtain optimal properties in terms of density and strength. During the testing of the developed porous ceramics for heavy metal leaching, the material does not pose an environmental hazard. Finally, the results of this study are applicable for the construction of internal partitions and household buildings.

OIL SPILL POLLUTIONS, A SEVERE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM WHICH PERSISTS IN MARINE ENVIRONMENT OR INLAND WATER ACROSS THE WORLD HAS GROWN TO AN ALARMING MAGNITUDE INCREASED LEVELS OF OIL PRODUCTION AND TRANSPORTATION. CRUDE OIL RELEASED TO THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT THROUGH ACCIDENTAL SPILLAGE OR DRAINAGE FROM LAND CAUSES SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND MARINE LIFE TREATMENT OF OIL SPILLS REMAINS A CHALLENGE TO ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTISTS AND TECHNOLOGIST. SORPTION IS A POPULAR TECHNIQUE APPLIED FOR TREATMENT OF OIL SPILLAGE. IN THIS WORK, THE PERFORMANCES OF THREE DIFFERENT SORBENTS, NAMELY, TIRE POWDERS, POLYPROPYLENE FIBERS AND TIRE COMPOSITES, ARE COMPARED IN TERMS OF OIL SORPTION CAPACITY AND OIL RECOVERY EFFICIENCY SCRAP TIRE COMPOSITES ACT AS SORBENT OF OIL SPILLS CONTAMINATION WITH REGARD TO THE IMPORTANCE OF RECYCLING WORN-OUT TIRES AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS ACCOMPANYING THE WORN-OUT TIRES AND ALSO BECAUSE OF HYDROPHOBIC SURFACE PROPERTY OF RUBBER SORBENTS, THEY COULD BE REGARDED AMONG THE CHEAP AND ACCESSIBLE SORBENTS FOR ELIMINATING OF OIL SPILLS CONTAMINATION IN MARINE ENVIRONMENT. OIL SPILLS ON THE SEA SURFACE AND FREE WATERS INCUR MANY DAMAGES TO THE ENVIRONMENT. EACH YEAR MORE THAN 500 OIL SPILLS CAUSE ENTRANCE OF EQUIVALENT TO 2.5 MILLION TONS OF OIL INTO FREE WATERS. WHEREAS IRAN HAS GOT THE LENGTHIEST BANK AMONG PERSIAN GULF STATES, THEREFORE, OIL POLLUTION HAS ALWAYS IMPOSED MANY PROBLEMS FOR PERSIAN GULF RELATED MARINE ECONOMY.

THE PURPOSE OF THE PRESENT RESEARCH IS INVESTIGATING VARIOUS SORBENTS FOR DEFINING THEIR POTENTIAL IN CLEANING THE OIL SLICKS FROM SEA SURFACE. BAGASSE WITH TWO VARIOUS MESH, RICE HULL AS NATURAL SORBENT AND TEXTURE-LESS POLYPROPYLENE AS THE SYNTHETIC SORBENT WERE TESTED. THE RESULTS REVEAL THAT TEXTURE-LESS POLYPROPYLENE HAS THE HIGHEST ABSORPTION COMPARED TO OTHER -SORBENTS AND IT HAS THE ABILITY TO ABSORB 7-9 GRAM OF VARIOUS OIL MATERIAL FOR EACH GRAM OF ITS WEIGHT. BAGASSE, WITH THE MESH OF 18-45, CAN ABSORB 5-6 GRAM OF THE OIL MATERIAL FOR EACH GRAM OF ITS WEIGHT. THE ABSORPTION RATE OF BAGASSE, WITH THE MESH OF 14-18, AND RICE HULL ARE ANALOGOUS AND THEIR ABSORPTION IS LESS THAN OTHER SORBENTS.

چکیده: 

از قرص های NaF برای جذب UF6 در غلظت های پایین استفاده می شود. در این مقاله یک روش شیمیایی تر برای بازیابی اورانیم از قرص های NaF پیشنهاد شده است. در این روش اورانیم موجود در قرص محلول سدیم کربنات حل و به صورت UO2(CO3)34- بر روی رزین آمبرلیت- 110 جذب می شود. سپس با استفاده از محلول نیترات سدیم، ترکیب UO2(CO3)34- از رزین جدا شسته شده و اورانیم موجود در محلول حاصل از آن می تواند مجددا در فرایند تولید UF6 مورد استفاده قرار گیرد. این روش از راندمان و سهولت قابل توجهی برخوردار می باشد.

The Removal of Ni (II) ions from aqueous solutions by adsorption onto eggshell (ES) was investigated. The sorbent is cheap, widespread and may represent an environmental problem. The main parameters (i.e., solution pH, initial concentration of metal ions, sorbent dose, shaking time and temperature) influencing the sorption process, were examined. The Freundlich and Langmuir were applied. Thermodynamic parameters viz. the change in Gibbs free energy change (DGo), enthalpy (DHo) and entropy (DSo) were also calculated. Under the optimum experimental conditions employed, the removal of ~100% of Ni (II) ions was attained. The procedure was successfully applied to remove Nickel (II) from aqueous and different natural water samples.

The adsorption of malonic acid on the rice bran was studied under various conditions such as temperature, contact time, adsorbent dose and concentration of adsorbate. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted and the result showed that the adsorption was dependent on all these parameters. The adsorption process obeys the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. The adsorption capacity was found to be 1.24 mg/g. The Sorption of malonic acid on the rice bran was rapid during the first 20 minutes and the equilibrium was found to be attained within 50 minutes. Negative values of Gibbs free energy change (DGo), show that the adsorption was feasible and spontaneous and negative values of enthalpy change (DHo), confirm exothermic adsorption. Adsorption of malonic acid on the rice bran was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy.
