Although lots of great achievements have been gained in the battle against cancer during the past decades, cancer is still the leading cause of death in the world including in developing countries. oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC) can originate in any location of the mucosa, but the sites most frequently affected are the tongue and floor of the mouth. It predominantly affects men between the fifth and sixth decades of life, being rare in patients under 40 years of age. However, its incidence in younger patients has increased in recent decades. herbal medicinal products are commonly prescribed for the prevention, treatment, and cure of diseases for thousands of years. Over the past decades, the exploration in the area of herbal psychopharmacology has received much attention. In this review, we aimed to introduce the mechanisms of Herbal medicine, as an option of individualized therapy, in treating oral SCC. Herbal medicine could be used as a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in human cancers. It could be applied in oral squamous cell carcinoma patients. In addition, it is a good method for alleviating the side effects of both radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Background: The relationship between the treatment of depression and plant-derived substances (e. g., flavonoids, coumarin, and Scopoletin) has been demonstrated through interference with the monoamine system. The present study was planned to evaluate the anti-depressant effects and active ingredients of Asperula odorata L. plant through behavioral tests in mice. Material and methods: In this experimental study, 35 male Syrian mice weighing 30-40 g were examined in five groups (n=7) as follow: received oral distilled water gavage (control), 10 mg/kg of fluoxetine solution gavage (reference standard), 10, 5, and 2. 5 mg/kg of A. odorata L. extract gavage (treatment groups). After one week, all behavioral tests, including tail suspension test (TST), forced swimming test (FST), open field test (OFT), elevated plus maze test (EPMT), and fractionation tests were performed each morning for 4-6 h within five days. Results: The hydroalcoholic extract of A. odorata contained phenolic and flavonoid substances (Shinoda test confirmed flavonoid family). Administration of extract (10 and 5 mg/kg doses) versus fluoxetine (10 mg/kg dose) reduced the immobility of animals in both FST and TST (P<0. 05). At the OFT, the administered extract increased the number of central square entries of animals with higher mobility (P<0. 05). At a 10 mg/kg dose, the active flavonoid ingredients increased the mice's incline to entre and spent more time within no wall parts of EPMT (P<0. 05). Conclusion: Our study suggests that the hydroalcoholic extract of A. odorata L. could have significant anti-depressant activity.

Inflammation is a severe, chronic health disorder. several theories are proposed to elucidate the mechanisms of inflammation, such as release of cytokines. anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin have been shown in previous studies. this review article aimed to investigate the effect of curcumin on inflammation disorder. the update knowledge of antiinflammatory, antioxidant and immunomodulatory effect of curcumin is provided in this review article. Pharmacological effects of curcumin inducing anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties, were searched using various databases and appropriate keywords. studies have shown anti-inflammatory effect of curcumin including decreased white blood cell, neutrophil, and eosinophil numbers, and its protective effects on serum level of inflammatory disorder. Curcumin decrease malondialdehyde and nitricoxide levels but increase thiol, superoxidase dismutase, and catalase level in oxydative stress conditions. in the immune system. studies have shown curcumin targets various inflammatory mediators such as cyclooxygenase-2, inducible nitricoxide synthase, and nucleare factoe κ B(NF-κ B) thereby attenuating the release of proinflammatory and profibrotic cytokines and suppressing chronic production of free radicals. Therefore evidence from studies suggesting the potentioal utility of curcumin for treating of inflammatory, oxidative and immune disorder.

Echinacea belongs to the Asteracea family and has 11 different species, all of which are perennial and herbaceous plants. This plant is native to the United States and has been used extensively in the past for its healing properties. So far, different extracts have been prepared from different parts of this plant. Echinacea contains important chemical compounds, the most important of which are Alkamides and Phenolic compounds (including Echinacoside, Chicoric acid, and other Caffeic acid derivatives), which have beneficial properties such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting effects. Nowadays, due to the abuse of antibiotics and resistance of bacteria to them, it is necessary to know the alternatives to antibiotics, which based on the antibacterial properties of Echinacea, can be used as an alternative to antibiotics.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), is an extremely infectious disease. Since 2019, a terrible pandemic of this disease has swept the globe, and it hasn't stopped, with regular mutations transforming into aggressive and contagious versions. As the world struggles with coronavirus infection, patients are being treated with a variety of antiviral medications and symptomatic therapies, and clinical trials are in progress. In these circumstances, it is more important to consider all of the treatment options for COVID-19, including herbal medicine. People reckon that the COVID-19 patient would be relieved from symptoms and cured by using herbal immunomodulators. In many countries, herbal medication has already been used to manage corona such as China, Africa, Iran. On account of not having adequate preclinical and clinical studies regarding the effect of herbal medication on coronavirus, some herbal medicine plants could be effective to treat patients based on the previous experiments. Some herbal medicines, such as Curcuma longa, Garlic, Cinchona, Echinacea, Ginger, and Curcuma xanthorrhiza are discussed in this article as effective treatments for COVID-19 due to their antiviral effects. Although their effectiveness is still controversial and further research is needed, we also review some impacts of herbal and draw conclusions at the end of the session.
