EVALUATION OF DROUGHT STRESS EFFECTS ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF AUTUMN RAPESEED VARIETIES IN ISFAHAN REGION

Abstract

 To evaluate DROUGHT STRESS effects on yield and its components of high yield rapeseed varieties in Isfahan region, reactions of three varieties of autumnal rapeseed to four irrigation regimes (stopping irrigation from flowering stage on, stopping irrigation from the podding stage on, stopping irrigation from grain filling stage on, and abnormal irrigation regime after 80 mm evaporation from class A evaporation tube) were studied. An arrangement of split plot in the form of randomized complete blocks design in 3 replications was carried out during cultivation season of 2003-2004.Results of this experiment showed that stopping irrigation (DROUGHT STRESS) from flowering stage on had deleterious effects on seed yield and its components, as it had meaningful reduction in the number of pods in plant (from 81.5 in evident treatment to 46.7 in stopping irrigation treatment from flowering stage on), the number of seeds in pod (from 23.3 in stage), weight of a thousand seeds (from 3.5 grams in evident treatment to 2.7 grams in stopping irrigation treatment from flowering stage on) and yield of seed (from 2730 kilograms in hectares in evident treatment to 2206 kilograms in hectares in stopping irrigation treatment from flowering stage on ), but in the meantime diversity in different levels of stress in comparison to diversity between evident treatment and stress treatment with regard to many characteristics was very trifle, so the results from this experiment demonstrated that rapeseed is a plant with low expectation and can have acceptable yield with the least available water but in case of enough irrigation it will have maximum production.
