INVESTIGATION OF EFFICIENCY OF SINMAP MODEL FOR LANDSLIDE HAZARD ZONATION (CASE STUDY: ILAM DAM BASIN)

Abstract

 Iran encounters heavy damages due to the LANDSLIDE occurrences because of topographic, geologic, and climatic conditions. In addition, incorrect principles in the development of residential areas, road building and etc can cause an increase in the risk, so recognizing of LANDSLIDE susceptible areas are important. In this research, the LANDSLIDE ZONATION map in ILAM DAM BASIN presented by using SINMAP MODEL. High rate of sediment load is entered to the river and finally is delivered to the reservoir of Ilam dam. For carrying out this research, first, 10 hill-slopes (stable and unstable) were selected randomly. Then, physical and mechanical characteristics of soils (like soil texture, hydraulic conductivity, internal friction angle and soil cohesion) were computed. The obtained results by running the SINMAP MODEL, shows high accuracy for predicting the LANDSLIDE in hill-slopes. Based on the LANDSLIDE hazard map by using the SINMAP MODEL, more than 65% of the study area has been located in stable class. The moderately stable and quasi-stable classes each cover 10% of the area. Moreover, unstable classes (instability less than 50% and completely unstable) cover more than 15% of the area in ILAM DAM BASIN.
