IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON FOREIGN TRADE IN IRAN

Abstract

 GLOBALIZATION has caused FOREIGN TRADE to expand among countries in recent decades. In this paper, the impact of GLOBALIZATION has been studied on various sectors of IRANian economy. To estimate export supply and import demand functions, Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) was utilized. Finding of the study showed that as a result of membership of IRAN in WTO, import would increase in all sectors at different rate. Imports in industrial sector were highest and agricultural imports accounted for the lowest. Export situation in various sectors was not satisfactory. This indicated that the competitiveness of whole economy was low in international market while AGRICULTURE compare to other sectors was in better position.
