Abstract

COMPARATIVE STUDY has always been a research method for shedding lights on the ambiguities of works of art. The application of this method is further signified if the subject of the research would remain in mist without using the research method. This method not only clarifies such ambiguities but it also illuminates parallel trends influential on different fields of art. The paper at hand is an example of using COMPARATIVE STUDY to determine the identity of a piece of BROCADE which apparently contains no chronological or geographical data reflecting the time and place of weaving. However, it in fact represents signs and characteristics which enable elucidation of its vague aspects through COMPARATIVE STUDY.
