Abstract

CATHARANTHUS ROSEUS L. is one of the most important medicinal plants. More than one hundred indole ALKALOIDs are extracted from C. roseus L. which some of them have pharmaceutical properties and are used as drugs. Different parts of C. roseus L. after freeze drying were extracted with triflouroacetic acid 0.06%. The extraction was analyzed by HPLC, using a gradient solvent system. The result of this study indicates that concentration of indole ALKALOIDs is different in the different .parts of plant. Catharanthine, anhydrovinblastine, AJMALICINE and strictosidine, VINBLASTINE and SERPENTHINE have maximum concentration levels in leaves, flowers and roots of C. rose us L. respectively. However no VINBLASTINE was detected in the roots of this plant.
