Abstract

Relevant experts in I.R. Iran have presented different ideas about the PATHOGENICITY of Avian Influenza virus (Al) (H9 N2) infected flocks in different parts of the country. This experiment was carried out to determine the PATHOGENICITY of the H9 N2 subtype strain isolated from broiler chicken. Different dilutions of Al virus were inoculated in the three vitalorganes like cerebral, pulmonary and muscle. and then PATHOGENICITY index were calculated. Clinical signs and mortality rate of groups were recorded during two weeks observation in tables in lCPl and lPPl groups clinicalsigns such as decreased activity, ataxia, ruffled feathers, nervous disorder, star gazing, torticollis, conjunctivitis in eyes and death were observed in IMPI chicken group showed only a limited subclinical signs without any mortality. Overall it is concluded that results were got in standard situation and the occurrence of high mortality and severe lesions in the infected flocks showed that some other infecting agents have interfered as co - factors.
