Abstract

Investigation of parasites fauna of the gills of Acipenserid fishes from the south-west of CASPIAN SEA was made from 2006 - 2008. A total of 130 adults from CASPIAN SEA and 30 juveniles (kept in FRESHWATER) specimens were examined.All together 5 parasites species were recorded. They were as follows: Nitzschia sturionis and Diclybothrium armatum (Monogenea), Trichodina sp1, Trichodina sp2 and Ichthyophtherius multifiliis (Holotrichia).The parasites fauna of infected specimens are considered in relation to the characters of fish habitats ( CASPIAN SEA and FRESHWATER) and season of the year. In comparison with the earlier data, from the same locality, the actual prevalence of some of the recorded species Nitzschia sturionis and Diclybothrium armatum has been greatly decreased. In this paper, the most dangerous parasites species to be efficacious in the success of Acipenserid cultured fish production are presented and discussed
