EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE OF SKIDDERS TIMBERJAC 450C AND CATERPILAR D6

Abstract

 Time study is the base of evaluation of performance of wood skidders. In this research, TIME STUDY on skidders Timberjack 450C and Caterpilar D6 were aimed to determine suitable skidder and also to characterize their output in Resket district of Mazandaran wood and paper forestry plan. For this purpose, effective factors in wood SKIDDING identified from stump to landing. By execution of completely random TIME STUDY and multi variant statistical and regression analyses, best model of work execution time was presented as a function of INDEPENDENT VARIANTS (distance, slope, number of log and volume of Loading) for each skidder in 4 skid trail (A, B, C, D). The results showed that the mean of total time SKIDDING for Timberjack 450C was less than Caterpilar D6 but the mean of number and volume of loading in traveling time and volume of logs were more than Caterpilar D6 for six hours daily work time. According to hour rent, the SKIDDING cost by Timberjack 450C was less than Caterpilar D6 (except B skid trail) but if the machines to be applied with maximum capacity, the SKIDDING cost by Timberjack 450C will be less than Caterpilar D6. Sum of technical and OPERATIONAL DELAY was 57.8% more than Timberjack 450C Therefore Caterpilar D6 isn't suitable for long skid trails.
