Investigation of foliage application of nutrients in yield and yield components of high yielding rice of sahel cultivar

Abstract

 In order to determine the effect of Foliage application of nutrients in different stages of growth of rice Sahel cultivar, an experiment was conducted during two years 2016-2017 in a randomized complete blocks design with four replications at the Rice Research Institute of Iran, located in Amol. The Experimental treatments included the Foliage application of nutrients at a rate of one percent in the middle stage of tillering, maximum tillering, Panicle initiation, maximum tillering + Panicle initiation and all stages with the control treatment. Based on the obtained results, the Foliage applications of nutrients in different stages of vegetative and reproductive growth had a significant effect on total dry weight, leaf Chlorophyll index, the number of filled grains in Panicle, Panicle length, and paddy yield. In contrast to Foliage application of nutrients in different stages of growth, there was no significant effect on the number of hollow grains in Panicle, one-thousand seed weight and harvest index. Also, the highest mean was related to maximum tillering+ Panicle initiation treatments and all stages and the least was related to the control treatment. The results showed that the application of macro and micronutrients especially in the late stages of vegetative growth and early reproductive growth in Sahel cultivar plays an important role in the improvement of photosynthesis and dry matter accumulation. Finally, the results of the present study showed that in Sahel cultivar, the Foliage application of nutrients in the maximum tillering + Panicle initiation, compared to the Foliage application of nutrients in three stages, will be more economical and more effective.
