Abstract

 The origin of quince is the Caucasia and Northern regions of Iran, therefore wild genotypes and native cultivars of this species are distributed in various regions of Iran. According to this diversity, the genetic diversity of 30 native quince genotypes of Iran and 4 other genotypes from Caucasia and Western Europe were evaluated by using RAPD marker. Ten RAPD primers used for this evaluation were able to amplify 164 bands, including 105 polymorph bands from all quince genomes. opn102 and opn100 primers with 21 and 11 bands, respectively were had the highest and lowest number of detectable RAPD bands, and also the highest number of polymorphism belonged to the opn211 primer. Cluster analysis categorized the majority of quince genotypes of Guilan, Esfahan and Khorasan provinces in the separate categories, demonstrating that the quince genotypes of various regions of Iran are considerably separable by their origin.
