Abstract

The SEEDING DAMPING-OFF and ROOT ROT diseases are the most important diseases of SUGARBEET that produce a considerable damage on SUGARBEET in Khorasan province annually. So investigation around this disease in necessary and important. Samples were taken from the fields in the major SUGARBEET production areas. Out of 82 isolates collected from SUGARBEET fields, 15 isolates were binucleate and 67 of them were multinucleate. Multinucleate isolates were tested with tester isolates to determine the type of ANASTOMOSIS group (AG) revealed that out of 67 multinucleate isolates, 25 isolates belonged to AG4, 20 isolates to AG-2, 5 isolates to AG3, 3 isolates to AG1, 3 isolates to AG5 and 11 isolates did not react anastomos with any of the tester isolates. For pathogenecity test, one isolates from each ANASTOMOSIS group of different areas was selected as representative. Pathogenecity test carried out at seeding and adult plant stages, indicating that the causal of SEEDING DAMPING-OFF belonged to AG4 and the main causal of SUGARBEET ROOT ROT betonged to AG2-2.
