Abstract

ABSCISES ACID (ABA) existed in SUGAR BEET (Beta vulgaris L.) leaves under drought and non DROUGHT STRESS but it increased at stress condition. In order to estimate DROUGHT STRESS effects on ABA accumulation SUGAR BEET, an experiment was conducted at Karaj and Mashhad climate in 1999. Research was carried out in factorial based on RCBD with 3 replications. 9 genotypes of SUGAR BEET were tested in this experiment. Treatments were stress (50 days non irrigation in early growth period) and non stress. Results showed that DROUGHT STRESS has significant effect on ABA accumulation in leaves and genotype x stress interaction was statistically significant. Root yield decreased under DROUGHT STRESS in Karaj and Mashhad. This decrease was significant (p<0/01). Genotypes also had significant different root yield (p<0/01). Genotype x stress interaction was not statistically significant in Karaj but was significant in Mashhad.
