Abstract

 Experiments were conducted to study the effect of PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS on proliferation ability of ‘Ghamsar’ and ‘Azaran’ cultivars of damask rose (Rosa damascena Mill.). The shoot single-node segments including lateral buds were taken from bushes. After disinfestations, appropriate antibiotics for each cultivar were used for internal (bacterial) disinfection. In order to investigate the best plant growth regulator treatments in establishment and multiplication stages, BA (benzyl adenine) in four levels (0, 1, 2 and 3 mg l-1), GA3 (gibberellic acid) in four levels (0, 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5 mg l-1), and NAA (naphthaleneacetic acid) in two levels (0 and 0.1 mg l-1) were used and factorial analyses were carried out using a completely randomized design. Finally it was shown that the best proliferation, appearance and leaf color in multiplication stage was produced with BA at concentrations of 1 to 2 mg l-1, GA3 at concentration of 0.1 mg l-1 and NAA at concentration of 0 to 0.1 mg l-1 for ‘Azaran’ and with the same concentrations of BA and GA3 but with 0 mg l-1 NAA for ‘Ghamsar’ in a liquid half-strength modified MS medium (with eliminated Cl- and reduced NH4+ ions). For in vitro rooting, quick deep of microshoots’ base in 2000 mg l-1 IBA (indolebutyric acid) solution and culturing them in the liquid media showed the better results compared to 1000 mg l-1.
