Abstract:

Aim: Given the growing desire of people to obtain health information through the Internet, examining the web search process will provide valuable information to health professionals and policymakers. Analyzing the search terms of google users can show their interests and tendencies. The present study studies the global trends in stem cell therapy in the last 5 years using google trends. In this research, the global search trends, the geographical distribution of search, the preferred search terms of users that can express the treatment preferences of treatment applicants, and the importance of treatment cost for potential treatment applicants have been considered. Methodology: This is an applied and analytical study and data were collected and analyzed using google trends. google trends is one of the services of the google company through which the needs and behaviors of google users can be analyzed. The results are from July 19, 2015, to July 12, 2020. Findings: The findings indicated that the search for "Stem cell therapy" has been an increasing trend in the period under review. Most searches were in the US, Singapore, and the Philippines. Also, the Asian countries of Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Qatar, Malaysia, Kuwait, South Korea, and Hong Kong, the countries of Canada, New Zealand, England, and Ireland, and the African countries of Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa are also among the 20 countries with the highest search volume index in the field of Stem cell therapy. Iran was ranked 25th in terms of the search volume index. Stem cell therapy for knee pain, pain, autism, arthritis, Mesenchymal stem cell therapy, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease has attracted the attention of google users. The results also indicate the importance of treatment costs for stem cell therapy in different countries. The most relevant searches in the field of treatment costs were conducted in the United States, Australia, India, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Conclusion: google trends is an effective tool for investigating the process of google users searching for stem cell therapy. The data provided can be used to identify countries in which treatment is sought, treatment priorities, and treatment demand. Accordingly, appropriate policies can be adopted to attract stem cell tourists. In this regard, information specialists can use the google trends tool to extract user search data in various fields related to health and provide it to health experts and policymakers for future planning.

Abstract:

Background: Prediction for diseases and health issues using Web information diffusion is the main aim in infodemiology studies. This study’ s goal is to give a raw estimation of people with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) for all provinces in Iran. Materials and Methods: The data for this analytical cross-sectional study was collected using google trends (GTr). Three keywords of “ Inflammatory Bowel Disease” , “ Crohn’ s Disease” , and “ Ulcerous Colit” were searched through. The results were limited to the geographical region of Iran from 1/1/2010 to 12/31/2018. The retrieved data saved to a local drive in Excel and analyzed through SPSS software version 23. Results: Overall searches for IBDs showed a significant (p = 0. 0) trend during the studied course of time. There was no significant relationship between the number of searches, applied keywords, and various seasons. The largest number of searches for IBDs keywords came from Ardebil, Gilan, and East-Azarbaijan provinces. Conclusion: This study revealed an increasing search rate for IBDs among Iranian clients from 2010 to 2018. The increased number of searches for Crohn’ s disease compared with ulcerous colitis from 2016 onward is likely a wise estimation of disease spread in the country.

Abstract:

Objective (s): Traditional health surveillance systems usually publish reports of infectious disease outbreaks 1 to 2 weeks after onset. The google trends tool shows people search information with a one-day delay. These data can be used to identify and manage epidemics of infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to predict the Covid-19 epidemic using the google trends. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in February 2021. google trends data was used to determine how much attention was paid to COVID-19. Data on COVID-19 deaths were obtained from the Iran Ministry of Health. Data were collected and reviewed in the period from February 22, 2020 to January 20, 2021. Data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS soft wares. Results: Simultaneously with the announcement of incidence of COVID-19 in Iran on February 20, the society’ s sensitivity to COVID-19 has increased and the search rate for COVID-19 in google has reached its maximum. Three waves of COVID-19 outbreak have been observed in Iran by the end of December 2020. These three waves were similarly observed in google trends. In all three COVID-19 waves, the peak of google search occurred 10 to 20 days before the peak of the number of deaths. Conclusion: The google trends tool can detect the COVID-19 outbreak quicker. google search data can be used as a complement to the infectious disease surveillance system.

Abstract:

Internet search activities may provide one form of Big Data, which could create great and valuable insights into disease patterns and populations' health-related behaviours (1). The meaning of big data in health sciences can be quantitative (volume of data) or qualitative (complexity of data) (2). New tools are emerging to make health care research possible in the Big Data era (1). One of these tools that provide the basis for internet search data is google trends (GTs) or Search Engine Query Data (SEQD), a publicly accessible resource of online google search trafficking data (https: //trends. google. co. jp /trends) that includes both real-time and archival data. . .

Abstract:

As it has spread worldwide, the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected all human societies. Several unnecessary therapeutic interventions and elective surgeries were canceled or restricted. Increasing the epidemic of COVID-19 caused the health care system to face many patients with respiratory problems, resulting in restrictions on the admission and treatment of most medical disciplines (1). . .
