Background and objective: Researches related to perfectionism have tried to investigate the negative relationship between this variable and its’ dimensions with the various fields of physical and psychological hygiene and health. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of perfectionism and its’ dimensionsin predicting disordered eating behaviors among students. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 477 students of AllamehTabataba’i University who was selected by multiple cluster sampling. Participants responded to the questionnaires of demographic characteristics, perfectionism of Besharat (1382), disordered eating behaviors of Garneret al. (1982). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression. Results: There were significant positive correlations between perfectionism and its’ dimensions (self-centered, other-centered, and community-centered) with disordered eating behaviors (p<0.01). In other words, when perfectionism increases, the degree of disordered eating behaviors among students also increases. Stepwise regression analysis also indicated that in the interaction between the dimensions of perfectionism, the community-centered perfectionism and other-centered perfectionism significantly predicted, respectively, 11% and 9% of the variance of disordered eating behaviors among student (p<0.05).Conclusions: The results of this study suggest the importance of perfectionism and its’ dimensions in predicting disordered eating behaviors. These factors can explain the high degree of variability of these behaviors.

Background & Aims: Adolescence is a critical and most vulnerable age in terms of mental health problems a crucial period for developing obesity and associated mental health problems. Inappropriate eating behaviors and obesity in adolescence is a great concern which can be associated with the risk of many chronic diseases in adulthood and in fact main base of obesity in adolescents is wrong eating behaviors. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between eating behaviors with body mass index among high school female adolescents in Khoy.Materials & Methods: The method of study is descriptive- correlation. 264 girl's high school students in Khoy to multi stage random sampling were selected and enter the study. The Data were collected with Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire DEBQ, meters and digital scale. The Data were analyzed with using Spearman correlation. Results: Our results indicated that 64.8% of body mass index to normal levels and a total of 35.2% of samples are non-normal body mass index. A negative relationship existed between eating external stimuli and body mass index (-0.13) and positively associated between dietary restraint and body mass index (0.46) (p<0.05).Conclusion: Results show that eating external stimuli and dietary restraint is effective on body mass index. Therefore Because the critical period of adolescence is important, focusing on eating behaviors and eating styles is important for the prevention of overweight and obesity in adolescents.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between mental health and eating disorders and body Checking behaviors in girl students. The research method was descriptive-correlational. From all students, a sample of 150 people were randomly selected. Data were collected using Mental Health Questionnaire (GHQ), Eating Attitudes Questionnaire (Eat26) and Body Examination Data Questionnaire (BCQ) In order to analyze the data, descriptive statistics including mean, standard deviation and variance of inferential statistics including R correlation and multivariate regression were used using SPSS software. The findings showed that the dimensions of mental health can predict eating disorders (disturbed eating) and Body Checking Behaviors. Therefore, it can be concluded that a series of internalized psychological factors, that is, factors in the context of which the "preoccupations" associated with physical transformation are only rationalization and projection of a more fundamental emotional failure cause eating disorders and body check.

Abstract:

This research was carried out to investigate the differences between students' body mass index (BMI) and eating behaviors in various levels of social physique anxiety (SPA).Therefore, of the Students of Payam Noor University in Garmsar, Sharood and Semnan cities, the cities of Semnan Province, 357 subjects (290 girls and 67 boys) were selected through multi-stage cluster sampling method. All participants then completed three factor eating questionnaire (TFEQ) and social physique anxiety (SPA) scale in one session. Also their Weight and BMI were measured by body composition instrument. Following the data collection, data analysis by ANOVA revealed that the BMI and eating behaviors have significant differences in different levels of SPA. Furthermore, the results showed that in higher levels of SPA there were more dysfunctional eating behaviors and BMI.These findings implied that harmful or threatening cognitive appraisals triggered by SPA could activate rampant eating behaviors, and could increase perceived hunger.

Abstract:

Aim: To investigate the mediating role of eating behaviors in the relationship between chronic pain and pain catastrophizing with body mass index in people with chronic pain. Method: The research method was correlation. The sample (n = 400) were recruited through purposive sampling method from patients (males and females) with chronic pain who were visiting orthopedic, physiotherapy, neurology wards of Al-Ghadir Hospital and Farahbakhsh Clinic in Tehran in spring, summer and autumn of 2016. Participants' body mass index were collected, as well as, participants' responses on the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (VanStrien, Frijters, Bergers & Defares, 1986), Chronic Pain Questionnaire (VonKorff, Dworkin & Le Resche, 1990), and the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (Sullivan, Bishop & Pivik, 1995), then analyzed using structural equation modeling employing Amos software. Results: The results showed that the model has a good fit (df2 <3, GFI, AGFI and CFI> 0. 90 and RMSEA <0. 08). Examination of the path coefficients showed that pain (β = 0. 303, P = 0. 001; β = 0. 148, P = 0. 001) and pain catastrophizing (β =-0. 149, P = 0. 001; β = 0. 153, P = 0. 001) have a significant direct and indirect effect on body mass index, respectively. Furthermore, chronic pain, pain catastrophizing, and eating behaviors explained for 30. 5% of the variance in body mass index. Conclusion: The interaction between pain experience and pain catastrophizing with eating behaviors affects body mass index.
