1 What is the SID Scientific Information Database and what services does it provide?

SID (Scientific Information Database), as the only national scientific information database with open access, is responsible for indexing and disseminating scientific information and provides its services through databases of scientific journals, scientific societies, research projects, citation indicators, along with other services.

2 Do I need to register on the site to search for articles in SID?

No, SID is an open-access citation database and there is no need for registration to access or search it.

3 Is there any cost for using SID services?

Most services of the database are free; however, some specialized services introduced on the homepage of the website are subject to a fee.

4 Can users outside Iran also use SID?

Yes, all users around the world can use the website.

5 How can I find an article on the website?

On the homepage, select “Articles” from the top of the search bar and enter the article title or your desired keyword in the search field.

6 How can I find a journal on the website?

On the homepage, select “Journals” from the top of the search bar and enter the journal name or your desired keyword.

7 How can I find a conference title on the website?

On the homepage, select “Conference” from the top of the search bar and enter the conference title or your desired keyword.

8 Is it possible to search by author name or university?

Yes, in the search section you can search based on the author's first and last name.

9 Can I filter articles by publication year or subject?

Yes, it is possible to filter results by publication year, subject category, document type, and database.

10 Do all articles have a PDF file?

No, some articles only have abstracts. Access to the full text depends on the policy of the journal or conference. However, currently more than 90% of journal articles in the SID database have full text available.

11 Does SID only cover Persian articles or does it include English as well?

The SID database includes both Persian and English articles published in Iranian journals. Persian articles can be searched at sid.ir/fa and English articles at sid.ir/en.

12 Is it possible to obtain a list of accredited scientific journals of the country through SID?

Yes, the complete list of indexed journals is available in the “Journal Database” section across eight scientific fields (Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Humanities, Basic Sciences, Agriculture, Engineering and Technology, Art and Architecture, and Specialized Sciences).

13 Why do some articles not have a full-text file?

This depends on the journal publishers. Some publishers do not publish the full text of articles on their websites; therefore, SID, which is responsible for indexing articles and journals, cannot publish the full text of those articles either.

14 Is it possible to access the PDF text file (full text) of articles?

Yes, by searching for and entering the page of the desired article, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and submit your request by clicking on “Convert to Text File (OCR)”.

15 How can I view the list of the latest articles in my field of specialization?

By visiting the specialized subject groups section or by setting subject filters in the search section, you can view the latest articles in that field.

16 Does the website have a mobile version or an application?

The website is designed responsively and displays correctly on mobile devices. An official application is also under development.

17 Can SID articles be used in theses and dissertations?

Yes, provided that scientific citation principles are observed and the source is properly cited.

18 Does the SID website display journal impact factors?

Yes, in the “SID-CAR Journal Citation Analysis Report” section, you can view impact factors and indicators of medical journals in the country.

19 Does SID provide similarity checking and plagiarism detection services?

Yes, by accessing the system at https://sid.ir/manand, you can use text similarity checking and plagiarism detection services.

20 Is it possible for authors to receive an article indexing certificate from SID?

Yes, authors whose articles have been indexed in SID can receive an indexing certificate for their article from this database.

21 How can an article indexing certificate be obtained from SID?

Authors can search for their article in the SID database, enter the article page, and click on “Issue Author Certificate”. Then, by completing the information form, they can submit their request.

22 Can I be automatically informed about the latest articles in my field?

Yes, by subscribing to the SID email newsletter, you can be informed about the latest indexed articles in this database.

23 What should be done in case of an error on the website?

You can report the error via phone call.

24 Is a specific browser recommended for using the website?

The best performance of the website is observed in up-to-date browsers such as Chrome and Edge.

25 Can SID data be used in research studies?

Using the data for research purposes is permitted provided that the source is cited.
