Introduction: Since the importance of ankle dynamic stability on sport performances, this article is going to assess ankle dynamic stability after KINESIOTAPING and its effect on neutral and pronated foot. Method: In this study, 31 healthy athletes (15 neutral and 16 pronated foot) at 20-30 years old participated. Their dynamic balance tested by Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT), before and after ankle KINESIOTAPING. For data analysis, “ student T-test” was used for comparing pronated with neutral foot at before and after taping separately and “ paired T-test” to compare each type of foot before and after KINESIOTAPING. (α ≤ 0/05) Results: There were no significant differences between pronated and neutral foot in all directions, before and after KINESIOTAPING (P≥ 0. 05), except at posterior direction before taping (P=0/04). Also significant differences were seen at anterior, posterior, anteromedial, posteromedial and posterolateral, in comparing before and after KINESIOTAPING of all subjects, that more was belong to pronated foot (P≤ 0. 05) Conclusion: KINESIOTAPING can improve ankle dynamic stability, especially in pronated foot.

Background and Objective: Deficiency in the proprioception, balance and postural control are mostly found in patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery (ACLR). These factors play a role in symmetric weight distribution on the lower limbs. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of taping on the proprioception and weight distribution on lower limbs in ACLR patients.Materials and Methods: Twenty volunteer athlete men with isolated ACL injury, aged 27±5.5 years, 4 to 6 months after surgery participated in the study. This study was performed in the Biomechanics Laboratory of Tarbiat Modares University. Subjects were randomly divided into two groups using random number table. Proprioception and weight distribution symmetry were measured by a digital goniometer and force platform. Measurements were performed before and after taping and 10 days after continues usage of taping. Results: The findings showed that the weight loading on the injured knee was toward increasing in 30 degree of squat but did not show a significant difference. There was not a considerable difference in 60 degree squat too. Angle reproduction test precision also significantly improved after taping. Conclusion: It could be concluded that taping has a positive effect on the reducing angle reproduction absolute error via providing sensory inputs on the knee joint.

Background and purpose: Balance impairment is one of the major health problems in elderly. Kinsiotaping and stretching techniques are effective in balance improvement. To the best of our knowledge, no study have compared the effects of KINESIOTAPING and stretching of gastrocnemius on balance in elderly. So, we aimed at comparing the effects of these two methods on balance in elderly.Materials and methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 40 elderly women and men were randomly assigned into 2 groups of KINESIOTAPING and stretching. Inhibitory tape was applied on the gastrocnemius while in stretching group, the muscle was stretched for 60 seconds in 4 times. The static balance was examined before and after the interventions, using single leg stance test and checking the changes of center of pressure by force plate. According to normal distribution of data, Independent t-test was used to compare the means between groups and paired t-test was used for within group analysis. Results: Despite progress in time of unilateral standing after the interventions, the changes were not significant (P>0.05). Mediolateral changes of center of pressure in females were significantly lower after the use of stretching rather than KINESIOTAPING (P=0.04). Moreover, elderly women showed significant decrease in mediolateral changes of center of pressure after the use of stretching compared with that before the use (P=0.02).Conclusion: The short term effect of gastrocnemius stretching could lead to significant improvement of mediolateral balance in elderly female. Also, the decreasing trend in changes of center of body mass in men after the stretching may indicate the effectiveness of this treatment.

Introduction: The necessity and importance of such research, particularly among younger individuals, are quite evident due to the flexibility of bones and the growth of body organs at these ages. By using exercises and a combination of KINESIOTAPING and Theraband, we can address their deformities and provide them with suitable solutions. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of an 8-week Theraband training program with KINESIOTAPING on the angle of kyphosis in adolescent boys with kyphosis. Methods: A total of 24 male adolescents from sports clubs in Isfahan (aged 15-18) were selected as a statistical sample. These individuals were selected randomly and through observation. The tool used for measurement was a flexible ruler. Data analysis was conducted using a dependent t-test and covariance analysis. Findings: The pre-test kyphosis angle in the Theraband with KINESIOTAPING training group was 49. 71 ± 0. 7 (p = 0. 604), and the post-training kyphosis angle was 46. 97 ± 0. 8 (p = 0. 002), indicating a significant reduction. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the combination of Theraband training with KINESIOTAPING used in this research was effective and met the expected outcomes, resulting in a reduction in the angle of kyphosis in adolescent boys with kyphosis.

Abstract:

Purpose: Low Back Pain (LBP) is among the most common reasons of medical visits worldwide. It can cause limited movements, long lasting disability, and low quality of life and work. Thus, studying the efficacy of conservative treatment strategies to help patients with LBP is very important. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of KINESIOTAPING in addition to conventional physiotherapy on pain and disability in patients with non-specific chronic LBP.Methods: Of the non-specific chronic LBP patients who referred to a private physiotherapy clinic in Karaj City, Iran, patients with the age range of 20-55 years were included in this study, using simple random sampling method. Before the onset of intervention, patients on the waiting list for treatment for 2 weeks were considered as the controls. The intervention program performed in 10 sessions (2 weeks), comprising physiotherapy (ultrasound, hot pack, electrical stimulation and stability exercise) in addition to KINESIOTAPING which was applied on every session. Pain severity (using Visual Analog Scale) and disability (using Oswestry) were evaluated before, during and after the intervention. The repeated measures ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. Results: Overall, 15 patients with the Mean±SD age of 39±8.9 years and the body mass index of 26.92±5.46 kg/m2, participated in the study. During the time that we considered as the period of control, assessments were performed and the results regarding pain and disability showed no significant changes (P>0.05). Changes in the mean score of pain severity were significant (P>0.001); it altered from 7.33 before the intervention to 1.80 after the intervention. Disability based on the Oswestry scale changes were also significant (P>0.03); it changed from 50% before the intervention to 11% after that. Conclusion: Combined KINESIOTAPING and conventional physiotherapy can decline pain and disability in patients with LBP.

Abstract:

Background: Rounded shoulder posture is a common abnormal posture in upper quarter. Kinesiotape is a new intervention that recently used in rehabilitation. There are no studies have examined the effect of kinesiotape on rounded shoulder posture. Therefore the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of scapular KINESIOTAPING and pectoralis minor stretching exercise on forward shoulder angle in female subjects with rounded shoulder posture. Methods: Twenty female students aged between 18 to 25 years old with rounded shoulder posture participated in this study. Then, the subjects were randomly and equally assigned to two groups: the stretch group and the stretch plus kinesiotape group. Both groups were trained for doing home exercise to stretch Pectoralis minor bilaterally for two weeks. Kinesiotape group received kinesiotape on scapular area additionally. Forward shoulder angle was measured in four sessions including pre-intervention (first session), immediately after the first intervention (second session), fourth day (third session) and at the end of two weeks (fourth session). Two-way repeated measures ANOVA (4×2) was used for data analysis. Results: kinesiotape group showed significant within-group decrease in forward shoulder angle between first session with three other sessions (P≤0.05).There was no significant within-group difference in stretch group and between groups (P=0.20) forward shoulder angle-by-group interaction in measurement sessions was significantly different (P=0.02) Conclusion: scapular KINESIOTAPING along with pectoralis minor stretching exercise improved rounded shoulder posture in subjects of the present study.kinesiotape is suggested as a complementary treatment with immediate effects on postural correction of rounded shoulder.
