Abstract: 

This paper aimed to study scientific output of Iranian authors in NANOSCIENCE and Nanotechnology according to Science Citation Index (SCT) between 1995 and 2009. The most frequently cited and linked influential authors, their co-operation coefficient (CC), the most cited influential journals, publication ratio, scientific output, language and form of publications, and the countries cooperating with Iranian researchers were reported. Historiography map of Iran NANOSCIENCE and Nanotechnology was also illustrated. It was shown that during the studied period, Iranian authors published 959 documents in 5 different forms in 111 journals with the ratio of 71%. Authors from 31 countries have cooperated with their Iranian colleagues among which Canada, England and Germany ranked first to third respectively, with the CC equal to 0.448. Clusters shaped included 5 subjects: photochemical methods to control Nano particle sizes, alternative quantum point analysis of metals, different features and indicators of nano-tube, calculation of nano-tube indicators, and nano-tube composition.

Abstract: 

Nano-chemistry has been recognized as a new scientific field in 21th century. It is multidisciplinary and is closely connected with chemistry, physics, medicine, energy etc. and it is developing rapidly. Using nanotechnology and nano-science, it is possible to design and manipulate optical, magnetic, electrical, chemical and etc. properties of materials. Therefore, it is necessary to update the science presented in schools and incorporate nano-science and technology in a coherent way so that future generations and workforce can make responsible scientific decisions. Among the advantages of nano-science to other sciences is enabling students to better understand the relation between the sciences. The best education results are rarely achieved without strong teacher motivation, active education and optimized learning methods. This article emphasizes the necessity of teaching the concept of nano-chemistry and its understanding. Designing a proper strategy and innovation in research will lead to better learning, participation and self-confidence from students.

Abstract: 

Background: The exceptional properties of the silver nanoparticles play an important role in NANOSCIENCE and nanotechnology, particularly in nanomedicine and also offer several applications in the biomedicine field. The development of antibacterials which are clinically useful against bacteria and drug resistant microorganisms, it is one of the main approaches of silver nanoparticles. However, it is essential to improve environmentally friendly methods for their synthesisin this respect, the principal aim of this research is focused on to propose a simplified and efficient green synthesis of silver nanoparticles with proven antibacterial properties. Methods: The green synthesis route is based on the use of the Ephedra sinica as reducing agent of the silver ions in aqueous solution at room temperature. Complementary, the antibacterial activity of the silver nanoparticles against E. coli, S. aureus, S. dysenteriae, B. cereus and L. monocytogenes was confirmed. Green synthesized silver nanoparticles have been characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, TEM and FTIR. Results: The silver nanoparticles revealed Gaussian distributions with the average diameter of 10 nm and results showed that the lowest MIC and MBC of Ephedra sinica herb extract were 25 and 50 mg/mL, respectively and also the lowest MIC and MBC of the antibacterial activity of the silver nanoparticles produced by Ephedra sinica herb extract were 6. 25 and 12. 5 mg/mL, respectively. Conclusion: The observed results suggested that using Ephedra sinica, it is possible to performed silver nanoparticles with controlled characteristics and with significant inhibitory activity against the E. coli, S. aureus, S. dysenteriae, B. cereus and L. monocytogenes.

Abstract: 

Nanomaterials with their amazing and useful properties are becoming more popular in human life day by day, and getting to know the properties of these particles can have a significant impact on the quality of human life. The void of concepts related to nanotechnology as one of the effective techniques in achieving the goals of sustainable development is very felt in the experimental science laboratory books of secondary school and it is very important to include the basic concepts of this science in the teaching materials of different educational levels. Teaching any concept in a practical and laboratory manner has a great impact on the deep learning of that concept, and nanotechnology as a science that has experimental and laboratory origins, in this research, we designed a simple experiment to prepare magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles in the school laboratory, in order to familiarize students with Nano science is practical and finally, by identifying the structure of these materials by magnet and scanning electron microscope (SEM), we explain the concept of nano and its importance in sustainable development and its different applications in life.

Abstract: 

With the increasing use of electronics in everyday life, safe and effective energy storage devices have become a necessity. Methods to implement maximum possible charge storage along with compact size, economic feasibility, faster charging and discharging rates are few goals currently being chased by the research community. Supercapacitors can be a revolutionary technology in this regard and contribute to sustainable development in the energy sector. Novel methods of electrode material covering synthesis and design that are economically feasible, environmentally friendly and exhibit better charge storage capabilities, are needed for developing next generation supercapacitors. The journey of graphene-based supercapacitors from 2006 has been quite interesting. However, with graphene and other carbon-based materials, new developments are required to meet the high-power density requirements. This paper discusses the design of future supercapacitor electrodes based on ordered mesoporous carbon structures. The ordered nature of mesoporous networks would ensure better electrode- electrolyte interaction and faster charge movement resulting in better charging rates. Such supercapacitors are expected to outperform even the best contemporary supercapacitors of today.
